When i asked my surgeon about a tissue valve he recommended the Edwards bovine valve. I've had mine for 3 weeks now and i feel great, apart from this urge to chew the grass in my back yard. He he :D

Saves on gas for the lawn mower. I will not feel right about eating beef, it could be my cousin!

They did not tell us "always"--just that they anticipation was that would be the acceptable norm by the time she would need it. I will definately put this down in my notebook of questions to ask between now and surgery. And I'll look at the link and get it to mom too. Thanks

Someone who tracks developments in the medical profession for a living told me about 2 months ago that research was being done on mechanical VR via catheter.
I first thought he meant tissue and said such, and was corrected. Don't know where, time frame, etc.

Would be nice to be able to avoid another OHS if/when replacement issues arise. Lets hope they've got this perfected by the time this rolls around...

 Anyone out there have this one? Any advice or any comments? I'd love your input!!!!

I don't know much about all these new valves coming in the market. But I do know that Edwards makes very good valve. I have one since 1977 and it still doing very well.

I've had my bovine valve since March 2001 and I really enjoy looking down at the grass.
