Thanks for sharing, Ross. I'm sure they will make the right decision for all and it is SO GOOD to see Chris smiling!

They'll have to resign themselves to a life of giving for the kids and not much for themselves, which Lyn and I have done. I'm happy, yet saddened by it all.

I met with a friend of mine today and it kind of reminded me of this situation. He and his wife were high school sweethearts and got married right after high school and shortly had two beautiful kids. They couldn't go to college, so worked hard at what they could. They are the same age as my wife and I. Anyway, yes....early on they had to to sacrifice a lot to give to the kids while my wife and I (single at the time) played hard and enjoyed a life style that having kids simply doesn't fit. Today, their kids are all grown up and living on their own and so as empty nesters are now enjoying life to the fullest....traveling, etc.....while my wife and I sacrifice as out kids are still at home....paying for college, paying for car insurance, feeding them, clothing, them, etc. Anyway, my point is, don't be sad....their life will adjust to the path taken and I'm sure it'll all work out in the end. I'm sure my friends had some doubts in those early days as they watched our "singles" lifestyle, but now the tables have turned and I know they have no regrets. To be honest, I sometimes wonder if I didn't do this backwards (first child around 35, second at 40). ;)
