Is that what it is, luck? OK, you are usually right about these things so I am ready to go!! Just have to wait 4 more hours till test time. I can finish working on my new project, Yoga & Pilates for Hospital Patients Hooked to IV's in Hospital Beds. I'm sure it will be all the rage. And yes, please send the boys down if needed!

Deb, thanks so much, I appreciate your thoughts and well wishes!!

I'm sending them anyway, just in case!

Well, send down the boys Ross... the verdict is 1.8 so I'm staying another night unfortunately. Mostly upset that my girls have to know I'm in the hospital, I don't like them worrying about me. Also won't be at the fireworks with them. I'm kind of confused why it's taking so long for my number to go up? Or is it normal and I'm impatient?

You should be there. Are they giving you any hidden sources of vit k? Boost, Ensure, things like that?

Thanks... and I will be out today IF my cardio would get here! I'm at 2.4 today, yay! Just waiting for dr. to discharge me and trying to be patient, as I found out the test results almost 2 hours ago. So ready to go home and sleep, haven't had much since I've been here.

Happy the INR is up Halley and you get out of there soon.
Hope you can salvage a Happy 4th.

So, I should call you around Midnight just to make it real? :D

In your case, I don't understand why they didn't give you fresh frozen plasma or Vitamin K? I think it would have been interesting to see what would have happened had they done so. ACT will not disolve clots, it simply increases the time it takes for them to form.
My poor word choice, Ross. I've looked it up again and it seems that they gave me the tranexamic acid since it's an antifibrinolytic amino compound (fibrin is a component of clots and a fibrinolytic breaks this tissue apart rather than dissolving it). The warfarin and ASA were both working against my blood's natural response to the bleeding and I needed treatment that would encourage the healthy clotting to hold on at the bleed site rather than one to increase my tendency to clot anywhere and everywhere.

I hasten to add that this was a painful menopausal bleed and was one I could endure for a few days. Had it persisted without improvement when I was taking the drug, I was directed to go back to the emergency clinic for re-evaluation.

I have a feeling I'll be awake at midnight, been sleeping since I got home!

It literally took all day to get out of there, didn't leave until 3:30. Glad it's all over and it's not easy being generally well and in the hospital, but of course thankful it was nothing worse and my INR's back up. Just wanted to thank you all for keeping me company during a long couple of days! The cardio said it is unusual the way my INR drops so rapidly and in the future I should always bridge in the hospital if needed, so that's good to know. And I guess I should correct myself and not say women should NOT get an IUD if on coumadin, but as with anything, make sure your dr. is educated as to save yourself some trouble.

Happy 4th!

I had an ablation done about 8 years ago...it was the best thing ever (and still is)...I highly recommend it for ladies who are sick of supporting the makers of "feminine hygeine" products ;)...I truly feel sorry for all the ladies out there who are still struggling/dealing with real periods after they have finished having their babies.
