Just got back from my marathon day at CCF doing my pre-op clearance stuff. Labs, echo, EKG, CXR, visits with the cardiologist and surgeon, and anesthesia. I'm READY! I'll either get a carbomedics or a st jude valve, I think he'll decide when he sees what he has to work with. As I suspected, he's thinking about the minimally invasive approach but may have to do the full sternotomy. I also have an implant from my breast reconstruction that might be in the way when he opens me up--I told him to do what he needs to do with my heart and the heck with the implant. It's the least of my concerns right now.
A week from now my sister in law will be posting for me. I thought about having her call Ross but I think he has enough on his plate for right now! Either way, we'll let my VR family know what's going on.

Carolyn,

We will be here to welcome you to this side of the mountain. You just might get a call from the Fermilab group. You should be just about ready to take "crazy people" calls by the 14th. :D :D

Sending hugs and prayers your way. Try to get some relaxing time between now and next week.

Ah, yes...pre-op marathon days...what fun :).

Good luck with your surgery next Tuesday! I'll be in Day 1 of the 3-day workshop the outplacement company is holding for those of us laid off last week. Should be interesting....

Hey, if you're bored this weekend, come out to Hamilton and Joyce Park. I will be there Saturday and Sunday with my dogs at a race meet. So it won't be completely relaxing but it sure will be fun LOL.
And yes, I'm thinking I'll be ready for some wacky callers by the 14th. I was planning on going up there except for this minor inconvenience in my schedule. Sheesh!!!

OHS has no respect for reunions

I have been trying to think of something to do with my nephew on Saturday. Is the dog meet something he might enjoy (he's 10 or so - can't remember exactly - pretty pathetic). I would love to meet up with you and Hamilton is very close.

Carolyn,

Sounds like you are really getting ready to do this thing. You are not allowed to get cold feet now. Good luck on your surgery and we will wait for the good news from your sister-in-law. If she needs someone to call and post results for her, send me a PM and I'll provide my number. Sometimes your plate gets too full.

Prayers and good thoughts continue your way. I know the good Lord is looking at his laptop right now and taking notes.

May God Bless,

Danny

I don't know if I'll be visiting another hospital then or not, but your certainly not leaving my mind! I should know more Friday, which direction we are going.
I'm just bummed that I don't get to see you through all of this. :(

Carolyn,

I was in Louisville the weekend before last for Thunder Over Louisville and was thinking about you. And about staying warm... BRRR! What a cold weekend that was!

Best wishes on your upcoming surgery and for a smooth recovery.

Danny

Sending happy thoughts your way! I hope your surgery and recovery goes smoothly!

Liza, T - 8 days until my surgery

Best wishes Carolyn! We look forward to hearing all good reports from your sister-in-law and we will be thinking of you on Tuesday.

Carolyn, my surgeon had told me that, even through he was planning on replacing my mitral valve through a heartport, it was possible that I would end also having a sternotomy if some of the other problems in my heart were discovered to require immediate attention which they didn't. I hope all goes well for you and know that you will be in my heart and prayers until you are back home and posting post-op.

May 10th is my oldest sons birthday. It was a great day for me 37 years ago and will be a great day for you also. I will be sending good vibes your way.
Soon you will be on the other side of the mountain.

Carolyn,

The best of luck.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Best wishes coming your way from the capital city. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you for your surgery on Tuesday. Take care. Wise

Good luck, good luck!

Good luck, good luck!

Thanks for letting us know. We'll be anxious to hear of your success! I will be thinking of you all day on the 10th! Thank you for arranging someone to post for you.

:D Marguerite
