After half an hour of doing my daily excersises my legs start to ache.
After resting for 5 minutes the pain is gone!
I've been reading that Simvastatin side effects causes muscular pain.
I am taking Lipitor 80 and Tricor daily, and my doctor doesn't pay attention to my complains!
How do you guys deal with muscle pain due to Symvastatin?
Thanks

I take simvastatin and haven't had any side effects. Of course there are possible side effects to all meds. I would guess, though, that "muscular pain" as a possible side effect of simvastatin would not be something that would come on with jogging in particular and then cease upon rest. I am thinking some other cause would be at play. That's just my uneducated guess.

Muscle Pain

I had the exact same thing you describe while taking Lipitor as well as 2 other cholesterol drugs. It does not happen to everyone, but it is a know side effect. And yes, it only happned while I was running...at first. After a few months I noticed it while doing any "hard" work. I stopped the statins and the pain stopped in a few days. Just my story.....

Did your Dr. stopped the Lipitor, replaced the drug or what?

statins

statins

I went back to my GP and told him my problems and told him I understand it is a known side effect of statins. He aked me to try other brands, so I did, but within days I could tell it was still happening. We agreed to disagree on this, but he did not ask me to continue using statins. We agreed to try other things (fish oil, etc) as I was borderline but not real high in total cholesterol. So far, I have not been over 200 total, so no further talk about statins.

I do not suggest that you do what I did, unless you want too. I was on Pravachol for a little over 8 months and four to six weeks ago I started having leg pain. I stopped taking it and a week later the pain was gone. I made an appointment with my PCP and we decided together that I do not need to be on statins. Now?I have ?no? arterial build up?.I had a Heart Sense scan seven years ago and passed with flying colors and my pre-surgery cath in 2006 was clean as a whistle. He had started me on it as a preventative measure because my total cholesterol was creeping up and my age?My total cholesterol dropped well within the acceptable range quickly which was, I am sure, due to the medication but also a drastic change in diet, exercise and lifestyle?. I may have to get back on something in the future but for now I am statin and pain free.
