Katie's surgery is coming right at us

Lord knows, this is one thread I hate to start, but time is getting close for Katie's surgery. I think Janet has said they will leave Texas Saturday, and by the time they get through traveling, the 12th will be almost here.

The good news is I've looked into MY crystal ball, and everything looks bright and beautiful for Katie. No storm clouds anywhere; just visions of Katie doing whatever she wants to do with her poor mom and dad limping along beside, trying their best to keep up!

So without further ado, let's get this show on the road.

Katie, our thoughts and prayers are with you, your brother, your dad and your mom.
We anxiously await news that once again you've made the journey, and you are racing down the slope so you can return to your presurgery high jinks.

I saw the title of this thread and thought, "Whoa! There is another Katie having surgery soon? What a coincidence!" And then it dawned on me, especially after I read your post, Mary, that it was us! Sheesh! Does that tell you my state of mind right now?

It's fried, it's gone, it's kaput! I'm a wreck! Can't sleep, but managing to consume food like I am a Holocaust victim.......AFTER liberation! Geez! I'm power eating............

Thank you all so much for the support. I can't tell you how much it means to me. And Bonnie, I love your new avatar. Your grandbabies are adorable. Mary, I love the fairy godmother and the crystal ball and all they have to see and say...........and you definitely have that right - if she has more energy than she has now......... And Gina, stranger??? Puh-lease! We may not have met face-to-face, but you are no stranger. You be family. I want to start singing Sly and the Family Stone song, "We Are Family." And Perky? I love the thought of God's phone lines being jammed. Just hope he doesn't have comcast............sigh! They are down more than up. And Emma, well, you know where you and Chloe stand ..........

Cort, Margurerite, Dick and Phyllis, Kristin, Michaelena (beautiful name by the way), thank you all so much. Y'all are my strength right now.............too bad you can't loan me a few brain cells...........

BTW, we got Katie a Betta fish today - she had won a little Betta aquarium for catching the smallest fish (3 inches) at a church fishing tournament...........and we had been putting her off, knowing we were going to be leaving so soon. Well, she was relentless today, so we went and got one (I made sure that Trip knows where to go back and get one should this one meet his untimely demise while we are gone..........eek! And I warned him that it had better resemble this one!). Katie is probably going to kill it within a day or two, anyway, as she insists on feeding it every half hour.............we are going to have to lock up the food, I'm afraid. She named it "Friend." heeheehee! So now Katie has a real Friend.................sigh!

Feel the love? Great! May it be some comfort to you in the coming hours. I understand that all lines are open to Heaven and that extra operators are being called in to handle the additional load... No Problema!

It's easy to say "don't worry", but impossible for you to do. Best I can offer is that you are an awesome MOM. Mine left me for dirt when I was Katie's age because she knew I had a crappy heart and did not want to deal with it. In the past 45 years, I have made a pretty good run with it and now have emerged "new & improved". As for her... she is still MIA. You, unlike my maternal unit, are going the distance for your baby. You are the real deal and you need to understand that it is something to be proud of. You are collectively blessed! All will be fine...

Did I mention not to worry?

Do yall have a portable DVD player? I bought Kameron one last Xmas..Life saver..because he hates riding in car.. I also bought one for daughter and they took it to Russia for an 11 hour train trip..Kameron took his on plane and for hotel in Cancun.....Maybe it would be something to keep Katie occupied on train trip..
