Joe came home on Saturday. He's doing well, very tired, but getting stronger each day. You wouldn't believe the services that are available for us here at home, it's like having a nursing home right here. We have a speech therapist (he speaks well, but has some swallowing issues), an occupational therapist, a physical therapist, home lab draws, visiting nursing care three to four times per week. I could have gotten home aides too, but they would be tripping over all the other people. Plus we need some "down time" just by ourselves.
All of this will be for a limited time from Medicare and our other insurance, but that's OK. He really doesn't need long term care. He's tough and is very motivated to getting back in shape.
I'm doing OK, tired, but I knew what I would have to be doing. I've done this before many times. This must be Ground Hog Day.
He was very fortunate that the stroke didn't leave him with much impairment at all, just a few little thing here and there.
Tomorrow is his first dialysis on an outpatient basis.
So far, so good. I was even able to mow the lawn for a short time today.
