I agree with Dick. Changes too large, tests too frequent. That's what causes yo-yoing.
Hi Freddie,
The antibiotic is called doryx and I'm supposed to be on it for a couple of weeks. I actually did end up taking 7.5 last night instead of 5 and will take 7.5again tonight. I like your idea! I'd say you're pretty sharp Thanks.
Of course, you could always come live with me and I'll "Help" you with your INR.
Uh, what does that mean Ross, sounds scary!
I'm everything your momma ever warned you about and then some.

If I could suggest, rather than play with the does, if you are on the high side, have you considered modifying your diet. I've been home monitoring with 5mg and gradualy increased my veggie intake each week by adding more daily greens like brocclie to my diet. Now with a decent diet of greens I'm pretty steay between 2.5 and 3.0.
Anotherwords, I found my veggie consumption level that balanced with my warfarin dose which I keep the same every day. It takes at least week of consistent consumption and tracking to see what point the IRN stabalizes at for a given amount of daily greens.

Halley - when you get back from vacation - check your INR and set a dose and then don't test for a week. I think your mixture of impending vacation and questions on what the antibiotic would do to your INR has caused you to be over-managed. This can cause unsettling fluctuations. But I do understand the worry that has caused this to be done. Been there, done that!
And ask Santa for a home tester. Having one would have diminished your worry and concern (and sense of being the one not in control) by about 95%. I know you REALLY want one - so I'll put that in my prayers for you. God bless.
