I'm gonna buy you these http://cgi.ebay.com/Sarah-Palin's-R...temQQimsxZ20090121?IMSfp=TL090121155003r37292 so you can waltz yourself over here http://www.arguewitheveryone.com/ :D:D

Hey where are you from in Texas anyway?!?! Let's have lunch..:D

No no no. I want them. I can sell them possibly at a higher price and use the proceeds to purchase a really good coffee pot. I must support my Starbucks coffee in the morning addiction! :D;)

I swore I was going to stay out of this thread, but this time I'm just making a joke instead of making an unpopular statement ;)

Some have hopes, some have fears....but look, the man has been in office three whole days....

Why don't we wait til he's been in at least the first 100 days, or better yet, one whole year, and then resume this discussion (if indeed we are going to have these political exchanges on a heart-health forum)?....

Personally, I think we relate to each other better, and get along better, and exchange health views in a more pleasant way, if we express our political views in places other than vr.com, but that's just my opinion. It's up to Ross and Hank what goes here....

Okay folks,

I call it quits! I guess you're right! We do relate better when sticking with heart related topics, after all this is NOT A POLITICAL BLOG. You know though, I must admit I had fun!

Love you all! Kathy M

I read threads like this because I have many friends on the forum, and I am interested to hear their thoughts. So far, I (and I can only speak for myself) feel that reading these thoughts has had no effect on my continued ability to relate to my friends on any other issues. If these things were really so black and white we wouldn't have over 50 million people on each side of these issues.

Thanks Duff! I am definitely morally superior to most of the human race! Therefore I have the right to cleanse the world by eliminating those who are not as good as me. That's a good thing, right???? J/K!

I feel fantastic and I think we're making progress toward genuine liberty and restoring our moral superiority in the world. You asked! :D

I am am not very comfortable claiming that our country has been "morally superior" to the rest of the world. That covers a lot of ground. I do think that we should always be working towards maintaining a sense of moral authority. High moral standards are a worthy goal, and I am a proud patriot who feels we have many good deeds to point to.

However, I prefer to let our deeds speak for themselves. Our deeds will show the extent of our morality.

ah, dennis, you beat me to it. anyway, i think duffy is correct but chose the wrong
word. (not putting words in his mouth, just my understanding) i think he meant
moral "authority," not moral "superiority."

we gain moral authority not by claiming to be better than the others, but by trying
to be better than we are now. the "authority" part comes in where others realize
that although not perfect, we're trying our best.

many problems in the recent past have to do with our claiming moral superiority, which
unfortunately can result in us performing immoral deeds, justified by our sense of
superiority.

Wow -

Wow -

loved reading all of the posts regarding the inauguration.

I am one of the maybe 10 people in the country who thinks that George W. Bush is going to be seen as a great president someday. Don't laugh. You'll see. History will be the judge. I think the war on terrorism is a war that will never end and as someone already said here, I am somewhat uneasy with Obama at the helm now because I feel that Bush had everything under control in that area - so much so that that is why everything else "maybe" had been neglected, the economy, illegals, etc.

I think you all know by now who I voted for. :D Love the debate and as for bipartisanship, don't think it is possible anymore. We have an almost 50/50 cultural/moral divide in our country (per President Clinton 4 years ago) and things are going more liberal all the time. There are HUGE differences in the 2 parties and for some people (like me) there are a few issues that are black and white. The mainstream media is so liberal and Obama can thank them for helping to get him elected. I personally don't think we will ever see another republican president, unless something major (and bad) happens during this administration and God forbid it will not.

We watched the inauguration and I am very excited and proud to have the first African-American family in the White House. However, I just wish that Obama was a republican. hehe

I am hoping for the best in the next 4 years, but not necessarily expecting it.

Hahahaha, Hanks getting owned! :D It's just coincidence, but it's still funny!

I watched the inaugeration from start to finish and enjoyed all of it. The marching bands and the music were fabulous. The two horses (Clydesdales) were eye-catching too. It takes a horse to make a parade.;)

Pres. Obama wore a warm-looking overcoat his wife--I wonder how cold she was in her yellow outfit.

Oh, the manager of an animal shelter in Winnipeg has offered a rescue labradoodle puppy born at the shelter following the seizure of the mother from a puppy mill to the first family. According to the news, correspondence has been sent to the Prime Minister. Gifts are given to visiting heads of state and the puppy would be most appropriate. This is not meant to negate US animal shelters. I think it's a nice gesture.

100 tons of garbage left on The Mall after the Inaugural. Apparently those listening to the speech didn't think that everyone doing their part meant them personally - it meant someone doing it for them or on behalf of them. The upside is that 300 people were employed to clean up after 2,000,000. I just hope it's not a metaphor for the future.

Certainly not surprised to read this. Just consider the condition of a theatre after the movie lets out - disgusting. Even when there are trash bins on the way out, people still think it's okay to leave their trash by their seat. How lazy can you get?

I am as disappointed as anyone when people are messy slobs, and regret to read that so much trash was left behind.

But I am encouraged by an even more startling (in my opinion) statistic. There were perhaps as many as 1.5 million people in one place, for a period of several hours. And-apparently-not a single arrest was deemed appropriate by the many law enforcement officers in attendance. If these early reports hold up, I chose (in the final analysis) to be greatly encouraged by the conduct of our fellow citizens.

Can you believe they stole the first inaugural Bible in 1789,I guess George
just stood there waiting while someone scouted around(?)

The Hank part was a definite coup:D

Just a reminder. Were not here in this thread to discuss the Presidency. That is an entirely different subject and I'd rather it not go there. Talk all you want about the Inauguration ceremonies, but leave the rest alone.

Thank you!

Now that I've seen more pics of Michelle's Inaugural apparel, i thought the yellow suit was lovely. The up close photos make it look like a very chic suit and very pretty on her. The ball gown - pretty material - but way too much material and wrong shape for her body type. Now the dress for the yellow suit would have made a stunning ball gown if it was long.

I shy away from posting on political threads because I think my fiscally conservative/socially liberal philosophy rubs too many people the wrong way. But from what I have seen thus far I don't think the hard right Republicans or the hard left Democrats are happy with Obama. So that tells me maybe he is doing a good job since he has everyone ticked off !
