Well shame on me. It's been nearly 8 months since my last post. As some of you may recall, I fell, & broke my ankle last June. This was GREATLY complicated by the fact that I have Muscular Dystrophy. My ability to walk was rather marginal when I fell. Unfortunately, during the time I was in a cast, I wasn't able to use crutches, for obvious reasons. Once the cast was off, I found my already weak muscles couldn't support me. I saw several therapists & specialists. I tried my best to get back on my feet. Unfortunately, it's not happening. The therapy was recently canceled by the Dr. due to lack of progress.:(
This whole experience has been very depressing to me. For many years, I've known that at some point in my life I could end up in a wheelchair. It's just been hard to accept...but I have now.
Anyways, I just wanted you all to know where the heck I've been. By the way, my HEART is doing just fine!!:D I guess I can be thankful for that. I'll try not to be such a stranger.;)

I'm glad to see that you're back, George, but so sorry to read that you've had this terrible complication. Is there any chance that with time you might regain some mobility?
I sure hope so.

Good too see you posting again George. I wish you the best in dealing with your new challenges.

Glad to see you back, George. Our prayers and best wishes are with you and we hope to hear from you often.

GEORGE!!!

Welcome back!!!!

Thoughts/prayers coming your way, of course....

Hi Alpha 1
For as long as I can remember, the doctors were always quite fascinated by the unusual sound of my heart. With a non functional pulmonary valve, I had a very serious murmur. Doctors would often ask my permission to bring their colleages into the exam room, just to listen to my heart.
When I saw my cardiologist in December, he listened very carefully. He then commented, with a big grin on his face: "George, you're very boring to listen to now. That valve Dr. Starr put in took care of that murmur."
The echocardiogram confirms this. My Right ventricle, which was enlarged, has become normal sized. The Carpentier Edwards 2700 works for me!

Hi George!!

Sorry that you have had a lot to endure lately. Very glad to see that you are back with us! I"m not around as much since life is just busy for me.

I have a brother-in-law who is in a wheelchair and if there's anything you ever want to know about which one is the best kind....I know he would know! He's very proud of his wheelchair...titanium in it or something, it's a honey!! He gets around great!

Take care!

Glad to see you back and sorry about the circumstances. I won't ask about your doing your own strengthening cause I'm sure you are if you can. I know I'm heading the wheelchair/scooter route soon. It's getting harder and harder to walk any distance without being breathless and panicing. I'll keep walking as long as I can. Perhaps one day, you and I can race? :D

been wondrin where you were. After all you have been/are going through, we certainly understand your absence and depression. You are in our thoughts and prayers. We will all support. Blessins.........

Welcome back George, so sorry for all you have been and are going through. Wishing you all the best for the future.
