I guess everyone is in agreement that I shouldn't volunteer to share the driving on our 700+ mile trip up North next week?

Thanks for all the thoughts and replies.:)

Hmmm, the mother hen in me would feel better if you'd call your cardio to run past him your incident and the reason you've stopped exercising, before your 700 mile drive.

Please be sure to take some breaks during the 700 mile drive and be careful that you aren't similarly dizzy/weak when you climb out of the car each time. I don't see why you can't drive if someone else is awake next to you.

Is it at all possible that you had something odd to eat? I'm always a food sensitivity alarmist, since truly, some things we ingest cause weird reactions. Or were you using clorox or any other noxious thing in the laundry whose fumes could have risen up the stairs and somehow overwhelmed you on your way up? I'm very sensitive to fumes, also. Is your furnace leaking?? Have you checked for carbon monoxide levels in the basement or anything like that?

Gee, Mary. Waiting to talk to someone just doesn't sound like the prudent Mary we know; especially since your sense is that it is heart related. What would you tell one of us??

Please take care. Marguerite

Ditto Karlynn's last post. Sounds like you're headed for tests anyway, Mary...now...November...what's the difference? You might end up catching something before it's a bigger problem.

Nope,
It wasn't anything to eat or noxious fumes. The loss of leg strength was temporary, but would cause me concern if I were driving on the interstate with heavy traffic around.

Marguerite,
I've temporarily stopped my nonstop exercising, so that's fairly prudent for me. I know something's wrong; that's been documented with my echos, so I'm basically choosing to not ruin my upcoming trip with health issues. Whatever is going on will have to wait until after I get back. One thing I've learned from having replacement, trips are less amenable to change than cardio visits and tests. If I fuss at any one else who might be in a similar situation, please refer me back to this post!

Mary, Mary, Mary, you are being quite contrary! :D You aren't a contrarian, though, when advising us to deal with possibly alarming symptoms. So you need to take care of yourself, too

If you've halted swimming because of pain, you know that raises a red flag.

November is a long time off, and so is a destination that's 700 miles away.

I am going to be nanny Bob and urge you to report in with the cardio now and see what he thinks.

Mary, if there is any repeat of the episode...even slightly...I wouldn't wait til November. The chest pain with swimming doesn't sound good either. It is a little disconcerting but I understand where you are coming from too. Take care, we want you around here for long time to come.

MARY! CALL THE CARDIOLOGIST!
I know alot of times you know you best. I started having those little pains several months before my surgery...Something strenuous and weird feelings in my upper chest, shoulder, neck and jaw. I'd stop doing whatever I was doing and it would stop. On the last day before my visit to the hospital, it didn't stop when I stopped....Don't let it get to that point!...I've had bouts of dizzyness, weakness, blurred vision since my operation. No pains tho...Do you have blood pressure issues?

Hey Mary,
I think everyone has voted and the vote is to CALL YOUR Cardiologist!:)
You don't want Dr. Schuppe to make a house call!:D :D

Ah, ha - the "do as I say, not as I do" approach. You must be a mother.

At the very least, make sure you get out every few hours and walk around.

Johnny, no high blood pressure issues.

Bob, I'm being practical, not contrary!

Betty, I agree, if anything comes up at all, I'll get the appointment moved up.

And Karlynn, I hope and pray every day that my kids do as I say and not as I've done!

Dave, you got your own personal reply!

Okay, gal, this worrywart will let up on you. :D

You all have a safe trip.

I am setting out myself for a 300-mile drive to the beach tomorrow. Plan to take frequent breaks to let the blood circulate in the old legs.

Mary, I know only too well the urge to put off the tests for a "better time". I've done it too often myself. There's obviously no changing your mind, so just promise to take care, heed Karlynn's advice to get out and stretch often, and have a wonderful, episode-free time. Dick and I will be taking off on Tuesday for a 10 day trip to Niagara Falls and Toronto. Not sure if I will drag along the notebook computer, but if I do, I will check in on you and hope to find that all is well.
Best Wishes,
Phyllis

With that do as I say and Not as I've done line sounds like Mary has a naughty side.....Well, don't we all.... ;)

Mary, I would add a ditto to what everyone else has said. Don't hesitate to report this to your cardio. When you, Dave, and I had dinner together last spring, you were really getting into your exercise regime. It concerns me that you've put that on hold.

I'm just dittoing too!

I'm just dittoing too!

Sorry to hear that you had an out of body experience there, but please do get checked just to be on the safe side. You still have Katie-sitting to do! My knees go out on me all the time without warning, but that was due to falling on them one too many times when dropping into the prone position on the M-16 range............sigh! Those were the days. Much love. J. P.s. NOt to drum up my old thread, but yours truly here (can't even blame it on Katie) dropped the digital the second day of the cruise and it hit the deck of the ship. Sony digital cameras are not shock proof (take my word on this! :D ), so we ended up taking most of our pictures on disposable 35's................well, I will get around to sending those in one of these days, but don't hold your breath. Many more hugs. J.

Oh, yeah, and I didn't say nothing about no bumper. Tires, strap him to the tires!!! It really is more humane anyway. :D

Mary, like Rob said. Don't be Mary, Mary quite contrary. You call that doctor right now. Of course I'm one to talk. I hate going to doctor's because they seem to always find something wrong. How about your blood sugar, could it had bottomed out? Don't wait until it's too late, you call that doctor right now. We love you too much to see something serious happen to you.

I kind of did what most suggested I do . . . I've had almost daily episodes of near fainting since we got home from the trip, so called my PCP to get checked for anemia or blood sugar issues.
I went in this morning, trying to eliminate the "usual suspects", but after getting rid of some, my heart seems the likely culprit.
I go in for an echo next Thursday and will see the cardio before my scheduled November visit.
I am temporarily disgruntled.
Maybe I should knock off the dancing?

Mary, I know you must be disappointed by these continued episodes. Echo is a good idea as well as a halter monitor if the echo doesn't give the answers. Keep us informed on how you're doing as you hunt for the answers. I hope you had a really nice trip though.
