I wonder what happened?

Mary

A few minutes ago I walked back up the two flights of steps from our basement to the living room, and when I was almost to the top, nearly toppled down them. I have no idea of what happened; I just suddenly had no legs under me.
I know it wasn't a TIA. I've had enough to recognize those before they even happen. They talk about fainting episodes with pericardial constriction; maybe I encountered a small one? I had a little middle to right side heart pain after I sat down, but it only lasted a few minutes.
Anyone else dealt with anything similar?
And no, don't tell me to call the cardiologist, because I'm not doing it.

Well I will tell you anyway..
"call the cardiologist"

I really don't know what else to tell you.. Can't imagine what happened..
Please take care of yourself!

I had that happen a couple of years ago. One minute I'm standing at the top of the stairs, a half-second later I'm sideways, figuring out what part I wanted to land on when I hit the landing. I chose my shoulder. It was a good pick.

To this day, I don't have any recollection of slipping. I think my attention was firmly elsewhere. I have no indication that I fainted at all, and actually had the time to maneuver during my brief flight, to best absorb the crash landing. So I doubt I was returning from unconsciousness.

I think that sometimes stuff is just really slippery, especially when we aren't thinking about it.

This will wind up falling into the whahoppen? category, a minor mystery in your life.

Very best wishes,

We have all be assimilated and are aliens without knowing it. These are minor communications between us and the Great Big Head, but is blotted from memory.

Mary,
The little middle to right side heart pain worries me- hate to say it, but I think you should run it by the cardio too. Hope it remains "just a mystery"!

Mary-

You could have had some sort of arrhythmia. Hate to say it, but I think you should call your cardiologist. You will always wonder about it anyway, so call and find out about it or put it to bed for good. But let the card decide.

You know the right thing to do.:)

Hi Mary, I understand that you don't want to call your cardio, I might feel that way myself.....BUT, you probably should run it by him/her ....just in case.

You take care.

Call your cardio Mary. As Phyllis said, the pain along with it needs to be checked out, even if it's just a quick phone conversation with the doc.

If you don't call, you will go in place of Ross for his 12000 post reward.

Mary,

I've had little episodes like that -- feeling of suddenly having no legs under me, of unsteadiness. Sometimes I think my meds or the combination of them do it; sometimes I think my up-and-down blood sugar. Don't really know.

But the pain as you described it does worry me. Only you know how intense it was. I suspect you feel as I do -- not wanting to sound false alarms. If I mentioned my every little bout of dizziness or whatever to my wife, we would have a steady procession of ambulances up our street.

HOWEVER, if you feel something is seriously out of whack, or you are having pain, please call your cardio or even go to the ER. We all do care about you deeply

Cheers,

Mary,

You know as well as all of us that pain is never normal. It is an indication that something is amiss.

Hey Mary,
I hope everything is OK.
I won't tell you to call your cardiologist. Bob! call the cardiologist!:)
I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Do you think you could have had a dip in blood pressure - possibly nearly fainting?
Take care of yourself!!

PS - it doesn't hurt to just call to check it out ;0)

If you call and get it checked out, the card will most likely prescribe various tests, which will most likely show no problem now, and will most likely give little clue as to what the problem was. BUT, if you go through all of that, what a benefit to my investment in a Health Sciences mutual fund! Please do get it checked out, and then I can retire a little earlier.

Mary, I think it is concerning you and you know something is not quite right. Just make a phone call and go from there. It could be just a simple answer from you cardio and if he wants to do tests, then you can decide at that point. TAKE CARE!!

Mary? You would want me to see dr if this happened to me.... please at least speak to the nurse, see if she feels you should see dr. A comprimise of sorts.. ok? Please? , we do worry..love the pup

My feelings exactly, Jim!

I think the sudden loss of leg strength was heart related; I'm voting for an arrythmia like Nancy suggested. I have been having episodes of pain on exertion, and about 6 weeks ago stopped both swimming and running. I originally thought it was the extreme heat we experienced during July and August that was causing the problem-- now I'm not so sure.

I have an appointment with the cardio the first week of November, and I will mention all of this to him at that time. I will call and move it up if I have a similar episode.

I guess everyone is in agreement that I shouldn't volunteer to share the driving on our 700+ mile trip up North next week?

Thanks for all the thoughts and replies.:)
