I've always had a special fondness for Black cats. I currently have a black cat visitor who "lives" nextdoor. They didn't name him, so I call him Midnight. When I call him, he comes right away and puts his paw on my foot. I think he's magic and brings good fortune. Have you named your little ones yet?
When you are ready to spay the mama cat, you might want to check with the Humane Society or SPCA in your area about low-cost spay and neuter clinics. I took some of the kitties that I fostered to our low-cost place and the price difference was astounding. Our Arizona SPCA sometimes gives vouchers for spaying, under some circumstances. You might want to check to see it your SPCA has that benefit.
