My Coumadin Clinic uses an Alcohol Wipe followed by drying with a fresh gause pad, then using the first drop.
I like to 'squeeze' the end of my finger to create a 'bulge' which protects the tip of my finger bone from the sharp blade!
I recall the instructions for my ProTime INR system saying to clean the finger with an Alcohol wipe and wipe away the first drop with a guase pad, then create a Large Drop for the cup (or 2 drops if needed).
