Hi ''everyone'', Im soo glad VR is back....I missed you guys A LOT. Checked the internet every day only to be disappointed and then finally when your all back I go and have a house fire. Yep, last friday night. Long story short, I went to pick up Sarah from work but left the pan on the cooker. Came home to our smoke alarms going and we could see red flames through the glass front door. I thought I was going to have a heart attack because our two little yorkshire terriers ''Suzie and Ruby'' were inside. I rushed inside the house without thinking and breathed in thick black smoke. Throat burning ran back outside. There was about 3/4 feet of area below the smoke so I got down and almost crawled inside and there was our little dogs petrafied on the couch. Anyway, got them outside and then rang 999.

Sorry this is so long I am shortening it honest.. End result was almost all the downstairs was coal black and covered in a layer of soot. The kitchen blind melted on the window and that was at least 3ft away from the cooker. So its been a hectic week trying to wash down EVERYTHING, and I mean everything. Unfortunately all the bedroom doors and bathroom door upstairs was open, so the smoke went up there and there was a layer of soot up there also, but not nearly as bad as down stairs.

I probably should have gone to A&E for some oxygen that night, and my chest still feels weird. I woke up today exhausted and drained of energy, wasnt able to do much of anything. Time to rest I think.

Anyway, things could have been A LOT worse and I am very grateful that we got away so lightly. As a matter of fact, the flames had gone out (kitchen cupboards were on fire) when the fire brigade got here, so I think ''someone'' up above was looking after us.

PS...my little grandaughter is doing just fine. She will be 6 weeks old next tuesday.

I hope you are all ok and send you all WARMEST WISHES.

Well, first of all, thank God no one was hurt... except for your lungs. Glad you got your yorkies out ok. I'm so sorry that happened to you - we had house fire once and, while it wasn't quite that bad, it sure was a mess. But eventually we got everything clean and the smell out.

Yikes......& thank God you & your family are okay, including your Yorkies!

Material things can be replaced & although very sad to watch your home go up in flames, it's still NOT anywhere near as tragic as losing a loved one in a fire!

Glad you are okay & I hope things get back to normal soon! :)

WOW Jacqui !! I'm so glad that everyone ended up ok. I can't imagine the fear of seeing your house up in flames. Glad the doggies our ok too. What are you going to do is everything gone or just alot of damage? Keep us updated on how everything is going and what you plan to do.
You will be in my prayers.

Crystal

Having lived thru two fires and an earthquake at our business, my heart goes out to you. I am so glad you are all safe, including the pups, and know you will recover; but, it all takes time. Everytime I see the massive fires we have here in So. Calif. it makes me shudder...so much is lost so quickly. But you are doing the right thing, just get in there and start cleaning it up and it will get better but the smell will probably linger in your mind for many, many years to come.

Glad you have a sweet new granddaughter to keep you occupied. Being a grandparent is definitely different than being a parent...I always thought I loved my kids but cannot even explain the feelings I have for my grandkids! Enjoy to the fullest.

Jacqui-

Wow! That is frightening. I am so glad that all were OK. The house can be cleaned and repaired. And I am amazed that you were able to do what you did. You're a strong woman.

So happy everyone, including your fur-kids, are OK.

I had a chip-pan fire once, it melted some little plastic shelf-doodads in the kitchen, and I remember washing everything that had been in the kitchen (dishes, pots, pans, caseroles etc.) in the bathtub for days on end! So, I know what you are going through, and wish you the best of luck.

BTW, don't know about there, but here in Canada, house insurance may help out with getting everything profesionally cleaned and de-smelled.

So sorry about the fire Jacqui. We had ours last November, the week before Thanksgiving. Me,hubby, daughter and granddaughters and dog all got out okay but house was almost a total loss. 4 weeks in a hotel and 5 months in an apartment before we were able to move back in. Glad yours was not worse.

So your leading a boring life too huh?

Glad to hear everyone is fine. That's the important part.

Jacqui, I'm sorry to hear about your fire. Luckily you guys arrived back home when you did. I'm glad everyone is ok and that it didn't do more damage.

Kim

I'm glad to hear that everyone is OK that is the important thing. I am sorry to hear of your fire, but accidents happen & that's why there is insurance.

Go and have your lungs looked at, you should have been treated for smoke inhalation.

Yikes, Jacqui ... glad you and the dogs are OK. Sorry about the fire.... The church I attended for many years had a fire in March 1998; that was maddening.....
