Great posts Luke, thanks for the updates. Try to hold yourself back for at least a few weeks to let your body really recover, but it sounds like you can look forward to a happy normal life now. Congratulations on getting over the mountain!

:D not to brag or put him on a mountain but i guess my surgeon is just that good? Its the low invasive approach that he is known for. He had 5 other surgeons from across the country watching him while he did mine because he teaches it to help us out so we dont have as hard of a recovery.....i looked at my uncles scar from a quad bypass and at 21, i didnt want that type of scar, not being superficial but people ask questions and yadada you dont want to explain it over and over to everyone you see. So i am more than happy with the results , i measured it with tape and it actually measured to just a hair over 3 inches but for this type of surgery...ill take that;)

look in my profile and in my albums i have three pics uploaded and you can see the scar

Glad to hear you are home and doing better! Each day will get better.

Good to hear it

Good to hear it

I am glad things, though difficult, seem to have worked out well. I recall reading your deliberations as to valve choice -- which valve did you finally select?

Best wishes,

Rick

Glad you're home.
I too had the problem with nausea in recovery/ICU.

Had it in my private room, too. They didn't believe me when I told them NOT to bring pancakes into my room 2 days post-op -- give me something, anything else for breakfast -- and I showed them I meant it when I say that some odors make me sick.

Now that you're home, you can rest whenever you want, but do remember to get in some walking & breathing exercises.

Congratulations on your successful surgery. I had a routine going the night after my surgery of asking for ice and letting it melt so I could drink it. Then I had them bringing me water and ice. I knew I was going overboard but it was so good at the time. I paid the price for the water (and the codeine didn't agree with me either!). I was so nauseous and ended up in the fetal position on day 2 or 3. The nurse brought me medication that helped after that. I was out of there on day 5!

Wishing you a smooth recovery.

Chris
