Stretch,
My doctor did the entire surgery, just lowered and shortened the scar. However, it made a 3 hours surgery take 5 hours. He knew that I was very concerned about scaring young children with my scar.
I thought that I would show it just to show our friends in the waiting room that it isn't that bad.

By the way, with my spelling and typing, can you tell that I am still on painkillers?

Stretch on most women, they do start lower. Women have this thing about showing it and they know it, so they do the best they can to keep it concealed. Wish they'd of at least tried on mine. Heck I'm cut from neck to gut.

Lower incision

Mine also starts lower than where the sternum begins. It was explained to me that although the sternum is cut entirely, they take the skin on the top and stretch it so they do not have to cut the skin all the way up.

Michelle,

Great pic. The shirt looks much better on you than Bob or Stretch....

Congrats.

Impressive, very, very impressive! And Welcome to the Order of the Tawdry Shirt!

If it weren't for the scar I would be also be saying "are you sure you didn't take that photo before surgery?"

You look wonderful and healthy. Keep up the good work.

You do honor to the threads, both the silks and the forums. You look in great shape for a recent AVR grad, and I hope you continue to recover at an advanced rate. As you noted, two steps forward, one step back.

Please don't make the mistake of stepping back into your life too soon. You will be surprised at the load you were carrying, and how much it will take out of you. Let yourself heal as long as you can.

Best wishes,

Michelle,
Hard to believe you just had heart surgery! I hope I do as well as you in a couple of weeks!
