The BEST Time to have Surgery is BEFORE Permanent Damage to the walls and muscles of the heart sets in.

Your symptoms suggest that damage is already beginning. The window before Permanent Damage is not very wide. When it comes to timing, I believe that the Surgeon's are best suited to make that decision with their focus on obtaining the Best Surgical Outcome.

Thanks AL. I want to stop being poked with a needle all the time. My mom is up in CT and having fits of worry right now. I am one of four kids and I am the one who has all the surgeries in the family. It makes it worse because she is a nurse also. She understands better what type of surgery I am facing and my brothers and sister are being the calm ones right now which is good for my mom's nerves.

Hey Brian
I'm the baby in my family and I am also the one who gets the surgeries. I'm 39 and have had 3 OHS. At your age your recovery will be quick. I can sympathize with you about the kid aspect. My baby boy was born 5 weeks before my surgery. Now after surgery I take care of him while I get my strength back to return to work

I hope your recovery is going well. Congrats on your baby boy!

When i had my aortic vs 16 years ago i was to denial point

and passing out along with all symptoms you listed.

I felt a renewal immediately after the surgery, took so long

i forgot how good it felt to feel good:)

Now my mitral (native) will i came close thursdays surgery

till my surgeon got hit by car, that delayed me and my mitral has

also caused me in the year alot of grief, breathless, stairs bring

tears to my eyes, what a chore and swelling as i have congestive heart

failure, and as long as this waiting hasn't brought me extra harm

i can get through it,i crave it,so to speak the surgery.

WAITINGS BEEN MY NIGHTMARE.

If this is the case with you surgery.....get it done and feel new again

your young and will jump back up quickly without regrets.

Thanks Deb, and I read what happened to your Doc and I am sorry. I know how you feel and wanting that to go away. I hope you can have surgery sooner than 10 weeks. Good luck
