Hello everyone, I havent posted for a while(been feeling sorry for myself) but Iv been keeping an eye on how you all are. Its great to see 'people' whose names Im now getting familiar with ''passing over the mountain SAFELY''. Im sooo happy for you all. For those of you who have had, and are having problems (I dont want to name you just in case I leave out someone and hurt their feelings), just to say you are all in my thoughts and prayers each day.

*Iv had a wild cat come and go in my back garden few a few months now and when I saw that she was going to have 'babies' I gave her some food (I had to, its the mother in me...feed and nurture kind of thing) Anyway a week or so ago she decided to take off but left a little kitten behind, so then I 'HAD' to feed the baby. Anyway, what Im getting to is this....on Wednesday last, when I was trying to feed the kitten she scratched the back of my hand. When I came back inside I put SAVLON and a plaster on it. Yesterday (friday) it began 'burning' and thismorning (Saturday) it has lots of blisters and is very hot, red and burning. So I rang the out of hours doctor and he gave me an antibiotic and some cream. Im a little worried about what could happen in the next 36 hours while waiting for the anitbiotic to 'work'. Also he listened to my heart and said he couldnt hear the MVR and then I realised Iv never heard any doc say they could 'hear' it, which made me wonder.....Is it possible to have MVR but not hear it with a stetascope ???

Is it possible you might be having a reaction to what you put on the scratch? The blisters make me wonder about that possibility.

However, no matter what it is, the antibiotics are definitely indicated given your history.

I suppose it is possible MVR might be "silent" but I have always heard of a murmur being present so the doctor's comment is confusing.

Hope the scratch improves soon and there is nothing more to it than a surface infection.

Take care.

I hope your scratch heals up well. When I was much younger, I remember finding newborn kittens in my apartment laundry room (basement). I just went over to see what the little "mews" were all about, but I guess my timing was bad as I suddenly had a mother cat launched onto my back attacking me!! Had to go to a neighbor lady to have my back disinfected with iodine or some such potion. Scratches can be very nasty. I'm glad you got some antibiotics for it.

As a mother with BAV (now replaced) I wanted my 3 children for whom no murmur has ever been detected, to be echocardiogramed. All 3 have a different, minor, valve formation. My middle son turns out to have MVP by echo, but no doctor can hear it. He is over 6 feet and quite underweight.....I would think given there's no padding anywhere that they could hear it, but they cannot.

Keep an eye on that scratch and let the doctor know if it gets any stranger.

Marguerite

Thanks......

Thanks......

*The ''scratch'' sounds very trivial..im not a wuss honest..lol. Thanks for your comments Gina and Marguerite. 8)

Hello!
So sorry to hear about your "injury" but it was kind of an interesting story about the "kitten".

I also have MVR and my murmur is very very hard to hear. No one ever told me that I had one and at my first cardiology appointment,my cardiologist practically turned me upside down and inside out to be able to hear it. It was quite comical now that I look back at it although obviously a the time it was not.

Take Care!

Greetings Eirecara!

I have two friends whose cat scratches very quickly turned very badly; keep a close eye on it!

I have six cats right now and enjoy five of them immensely. They all have different personalities. One of them seems to think that he is our third son:p.
