Hi Ann,

So sorry to hear it. Your grandaughter, along with the rest of the family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I did hear that somewhere in the high 90 percentile...all the crud that is going around presently. IS swine flu, aka H1N1. Some folks can fight it off, others not as fortunate.

H1N1 arrived sometime in the spring. Did not die off during the summer months. Scary for certain. It spread through many summer camps, etc.
Pretty sure I caught it in late June. Made me feel awful. But not bad enough to be hospitilized. My family did not catch it at that point.

Within the last week. My family has been sick with the same symptoms I had back in June. It comes on fast. Effects the respitory system, sinus and ears. Lots of adult ear infections with this. I had a double.

I am no doctor, but think I may have figured it out :). Perhaps, lol.

thank you all for your thoughts and prayers - and for caring.

Kimberly loaned her cell to a friend last week. This young woman called Kimberly to say she had swine flu and has been tested at our local health department and her test was positive. Sooo, guess the mystery is solved. of course tests Kimberly is getting in the hospital will tell the final tale, but it kinda goes without saying, doesn't it. This is virulent stuff. She is one sick girl. once she is dehydrated, she will be able to go home.

The bad part is, it takes so long for Blood Cultures to produce results. This is why Docs start treating for what they beleive to be the problem, even if it's not.

Wow - it's scary to think that something as simple as lending someone your cell phone is enough to get sick.

I hope she feels better quickly!

Ann, she is in my prayers. It does sound like she got hit hard with it. If she was having a post-surgical problem and then got the flu on top of that I'm not surprised by how sick she became. I'm hoping she is already regaining some strength and will be soon out of the hospital.

Ohh geez my prayers for kimberly, just read your post Ann
Unreal poor little girl, prayers for all of you.((HUGS)) are safe
from here so sending hugs keep us posted when able:(

Kimberly was hydrated enough today so the dr let her go home. that is good news. she's still quite sick and it will take some time. She had leg bone surgery about 5 weeks ago and is still getting over that, as well. she's a determined young mother and great with the five children she and her husband are raising. Hubby is standing by, making burgers to feed the mob, taking care of the chores and Kimberly - as well as going to his job.

thank you all so much for all your thoughts and prayers.

when tests come back I will let you know what they show. if it really is the swine stuff, at least that will be one example to see.

Oh Ann - I'm just now reading this about Kimberly and so thankful she has just been released to go home. My BIG hugs to you and your little granddaughter along with your daughter and the rest of the family. Such a scary time for you all.

Glad to hear they got her hydrated and she is home. Thank goodness for
helping husbands, that should make the difference in her recovery.
Sending your granddaughter my prayers- Dina

Continuing the prayers. I'm sure EVERYONE is glad she is home. Good news!
