I'll bet those doctors & hospital will be quick to negotiate a settlement.
Years ago, a co-worker here had bypass surgery. Surgeon left something -- I was told it was a "sponge" -- inside. Some time later patient developed a massive infection.
Result: A settlement large enough to pay for his son to attend 4 years at a pricey private university. Don't even know if there was a lawsuit filed or if this was negotiated out-of-court.
