WAY TO GO GLENDA

Wow Glenda -- you are such an inspiration for renewing life! Thanks so much for sharing with us. I bet you feel wonderful,
Dale

Thanks again everyone. You guys are my rock! ! If I knew how to post a new avatar I would. First I'll have to have a new picture taken. I usually hide when the camera comes out, in fact usually I'm the one taking the pictures! Our new preacher is a computer whiz so he could probably help me post a new one. Look for it in the very near future.

I think I've mentioned it before but I cut sugar completely out of my diet. I don 't ever eat it on purpose. I know it's in some of the food we buy and also in restaurant food, but I haven't had cake, cookies, candy, pies or etc. since two days before last Thanksgiving. I also cut out bread, almost any white product. I eat very little meat, some chicken. I do eat a lot of salads, vegetables and fruit and some Braum's low fat yogurt. It's the only yogurt I can tolerate. I drink a couple of glasses of skim milk a day. I think getting the sugar completely out of my system was what worked for me.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Cutting out your sugars is an excellent way to go. It helped me as well, though I find I do sway in and out of the sugar cravings, so I'm not nearly as disciplined as you.

Some time ago I remember you saying that either you or your doctor said, "don't eat anything with a face on it". Was that you? Oh my, I laughed so hard at that at first... but then I found that for a few months I was having a lot of trouble eating meat!!! :p:p

I've never liked sandwiches that much, or lunch, really. I have found, though, that vegetable sandwiches are wonderful! Especially avocado and cream cheese with some cucumber and maybe sliced tomato. Whole wheat, of course. Then I use a wonderful spice called Spike. It isn't that easy to find (Safeway tends to carry it). It is so good on avocado! Sometimes I have a cucumber and cheddar cheese sandwich with a little mayo..

Anyway, vegetables rule!!!!

I like your reminder and I think I'm going to keep a very close eye on my sugar intake. Summer is tough because it's hot and you want sweet drinks. But thank you again for sharing.

Now get us that photo, soon! :D

How wonderful! So proud of you, tell me some of your secrets please. I only need to loose 30pnds, already lost 20 but it took me 8mnths to do that! (__:__) is my problem! LOL! I would love to get off some of these meds!

Norma, I really don't call it a diet. I've read seveal places where cancer thrives off sugar and I got to thinking, I'm on my third cancer. I guess you could say it scared me and I figured if I was going to live a long much longer I had better give up sugar. I do eat fish once in a while. I really don't like fish very well but when my husband catches it down at the lake and I fry it up fresh, that's okay.

Marguerite, yes it was me that told my oncologist, "I guess I shouldn't eat anything that had a face" and he agreed with me. He said people eat way too much meat.

I am very proud of you, Glenda!! you are an inspiration.

l had two older sisters died of cancer. I always tell myself to stay away of sugar, as you said, it is what cancer feeds on!!! my mother was also diabetic. So, I should avoid sugar. The only time I avoid it is during lent and I try to think of all days as lent, but it does not work.

Good for you and I should tell myself, if Glenda did it, I should be able to do it. You are my hero.

Congratulations and hugs.

oh my, what a nice post to wake up to this morning, Glenda. It has made my day. I am so proud of you. That job, the dog and the farm is good living and healthy, too. Not to mention all the work you have put into getting healthy. Congratulations of the highest sort. You are really a great inspiration in so many, many ways. Thank you.

Way to go. I dropped 70 post op and my surgeon is really tickled about that too. Amazing how much better you feel aint it ?

Dear Glenda The Good, Weight loss isn't one of my issues, but taking care of myself is, so I can appreciate your struggles, and your victories. Beyond that, I know you live by the convictions expressed in the quote in your signature. You are a champion for my spirit, and your triumphs bring me joy. So let me congratulate you, and cheer you on! YAHOO! Your valve brother, Brian
