My granddaughter Hannah, 5, (light blue shirt in my avatar) scored four more goals in her soccer game this morning! And she doesn't just routinely kick them from the typical (at this age) crowd of kids. She breaks away, takes it all the way down the field, and kicks in, sometimes with a sliding kick from the corner. Don't know that her dad (who is more of a baseball athlete) or anyone else has taught her that; just seems to have a knack for it.
Makes me think how blessed I have been to be around the past 5 years to see my grandchildren blossom in this and many other ways. Without the amazing surgery to correct the valve and root problem in Feb. '05, no way I would have been. Now, no way I'll be around for the 2024 Olympics, but those of you who will be, remember to watch for a amazing striker on the U.S. women's soccer team named Hannah, who keeps scoring mind-boggling goals. That will be a little bit of the Superbob spirit still around in action.
