Hi Sam, like everybody else I want to wish you good luck on the big day. I'll remember you in my prayers.

Thank you folks for all your prayer and healing thoughts. I am still calm before the storm and that is because of you people has given me courage and a glimpse of the other side of the moutain which at times seems not so scary. And that is what I am hoping for.
I am in Cleveland now and had all my blood work, x-ray, EKG and urine test done. I have an appointment with Dr. Griffin tomorrow( my cardiologist), and catherization as well. On wednesday I'll be given pre-surgery instructions and hopefully a definite time for surgery on thursday. I am not very nervous as yet and have prescription for xanax just in case. My wife Lorrie will be updating you guys on my condition while I am in hospital.
Christina,
I hope you are right about he being able to repair my valve once he opens me up.
Betty, I don't have any aortic leakage. Other than mitral valve and enlarged atrium, I have no other heart problem.
Honestly, reading through the experiences of most of the people who have been through this surgery has made me feel a lot better and not as nervous.
This is a great site and I wish to thank all you people for support and concern.
Sam

Like the bear up North, think of this as a short 'hibernation'. You will come out of it stronger and better then ever.
We will keep you in our prayers.
