Phyllis

Well I had my first radiation treatment for the breast cancer today and all went well. I will be going every morning at 8:45, 5 days/week for 6 1/2 weeks. This morning, I arrived at 8:30 and was done by 8:50 and then met with the nurse to go over instructions and side effects. 1 down and only 32 more to go!!
My son and family were here from Saturday to Tuesday and will be back on Aug. 2nd for a week and my daughter and family arrive tomorrow for 3 weeks. That should keep me busy and my mind diverted. The radiation will also be a good excuse to sneak in my daily afternoon nap!:D

You won't feel too much until close to the end. Then there will be some reddening, maybe some blistering. But they will check everything out carefully at each treatment. Did you have to get tatoos?

Dear Phyllis, I'll keep the prayers coming! Thanks for the update, it means a lot to me to know what you are going through, and how you are doing. I think I can speak for the gang here, when I say "We treasure you!" Keep fighting! Brian

Yes, Nancy. I got two small tattoo's a week ago when they did the planning Cat Scan (can't even find them among the freckles) and yesterday at the simulation they marked the entire treatment area up with a blue pen. No more V-necks for me- I look like my grandson went to town with a magic marker on my chest! I meet with the doctor and nurse every Wed. to check out side effects and they told me not to expect any problems for 2-3 weeks.

Phyllis,
I am thinking of you and praying for you as you go through the treatments.

Chris

You're in my thoughts & prayers Phyllis. I'm sure your family will keep you busy so, yes, please sneak in a nap every day if you can!

I hope that you don't have any nasty side affects from the treatments & that all goes smooth for you! Please take care! :)

Phyllis, like Nancy said at the end of the radiation is probably the hardest. I did burn quite bad, in fact I have what they call radiation scars. Also that breast is about a size "A" cup where the other one is a size "C". Now it's real hard to find a bra that fits! In fact around the house I don't even wear a bra. The other day I had to run to store and forgot until I got there and looked down and thought "Oh, my gosh, I sure hope I don't run into anyone I know", well you know at a Wal Mart that is impossible. Oh well, if they noticed they were looking too close. I'm too old too worry about things like that.

Hugs & prayers are coming your way. Hang in there, it will get better!

Sorry to see you have to go through this at all. Hang tough kiddo and know we are behind you.

All the best for your treatment and hoping it all goes well for you.

B

You're always in my thoughts and prayers, Phyllis.

32 treatments from now, we'll have to celebrate!;):):)

Hi Phyllis

I know all will go well.....I'll keep you in my prayers. Just think of it as another life experience to get through....you will be fine, girlfriend.

Evelyn

Phyllis, we're wishing the best for you and sending prayers for a totally successful and issue-less radiation course.
