I have had a St Judes mechanical valve since October 1997. It has operated perfectly. The tick is a minor irritation for a while but I seldom notice it now. The coumadin is somewhat of a minor hassle but nothing like having to have another type valve replaced. Main problem now is a 5.3cm ascending aortic aneurysm which I am waiting on to see if it is going to increase in size at my next cardio visit.
