I have an on-x. just don't believe the ******** about the lower INR.
They sent me a ring made of the same material. Pretty cool.
A space age black ring sounds cool.

I agree that the 1.5 - 2.0 INR sounds more like marketing hype than a sensible long term level.

From anon on another site-
“just saw this post and don’t want to cause any alarm but I don’t want you to think this isn’t serious . My boyfriend got the onx valve “safe” for lower inr and ended up with a clot On the valve that made it to his brain and major stroke with an inr of 1.7 at time of admission ... (this was his target) I say this to anyone with that valve thinking it’s “ok” if it dips low .. please be careful”

Wether they followed the low aspirin protocol and/or there were any other mitigating factors who knows...
but still food for thought

After 52 years on warfarin, the only serious issue that I've had (stroke in 1984 and before the INR system was the testing norm) was due to a probable low INR/PT. I've never had a problem with "bleeding", or anything else, due to a high INR/PT.......blood cells will be replaced, brain cells will not.:(

Sorry to hear about the event,

FDA and PROACT say 1.5 to 2, but i keep it at 2 as minimum with aspirin,
that works even other valve designed earlier, but everybody is different, at times when drops to less than 2, i can hear it ticking,
2 or more is silent " for me"

I don't understand the fuss about lowering the range. I would notice no difference whatsoever between an INR of 2 vs. 3.

2 might actually be 1.7.
3 may be 2.7. I know which I prefer.

Be safe peeps. Listen to Master Splinter, Duke of Texas and Protime.
