Hmmmmm.....

Just past ten months post-op here, seems like I should be due for some kinda anniversary party or maybe a cupcake with a candle....

Dunno....

Maybe I can splurge and have a Big Mac with fries and a chocolate shake....

Ummmmm.... No.

So what does one do when they've just past a year with an artificial valve? Get a medal?

A sticker?

=)

How about a pink heart-shaped cake? (Pink for "in the pink").

I think an angel food cake with strawberries would be heavenly. My mother-in-law used to do one and cut out the interior of the cake and put whipped cream in. MMMMMMMMM. Of course, there's no-fat whipped cream now. I think this would be OK for all valvers, regardless of low-fat, low-salt, whatever diet they're on.

I'll be celebrating my first anniversary in June at a convention in Orlando FL. Don't intend to do Disney World, though.

Ross:

That pizza looks wonderful. I'll let you keep the beer.

You are the devil in disguise! Here I am, sitting at work, only oatmeal and an apple so far for breakfast, it's 10:40 a.m. and I have another 35 minutes before lunch. You are tormenting me!

Ross,

I had a feeling that you were my kinda person. Now I know for sure. Please keep the pizza warm and some beer on ice... I'm on my way!

I was going to skip lunch today but that picture is making my stomach growl. I think I'll go home and author a medical study that says that enough pizza will cure ANYTHING!

You know how it seems you can find most anything on the net? Well I tried to find a really greasy, cholesterol laden pizza and beer, but this is all I could find within 150 images. :D

Pizza?

Pizza?

That is the worse pizza I have ever seen.:p :p What are those greeny things?..Hold the pizza..I'll have that beer.:D :D :D Bonnie

Ross, I knew it! You're a "yuppie". That's a New Age pizza, reserved for yuppies and others of their ilk. Looks like spinach, sun dried tomatoes, shrooms and either ricotta or goat cheese, on a puff pastry shell. What kind of beer is that?

I kinda like it:p

I have no clue. I've been trying to figure out the white stuff on the crust. I think your right about goat cheese. Like I said, I tried to find the most greasy yet yummy looking pizza with beer and out of the first 150 images, this was as good as it got.

New Age pizza????

Looks like a Margherita pizza. A Margherita pizza was created somewhere between 1890-1900 to honor Margherita, the queen of Italy. Chef who designed it came up with a pizza of red, white and green -- colors of the Italian flag. Typically has tomato slices (or some crushed tomatoes), fresh sliced mozzarella and lots of basil. Crust is thin.

Heard about them on the Food channel one day, picked one up at a gourmet grocery in Fort Worth. Pretty good.

What the hell???

HEY! GET YER GRUBBY HANDS OFF MY PIZZA!!!!

Heeheehee.... =)

Ross, thanks man! Got any Sam Adams? That's about the only brew I'd drink if I was given the chance, just 'cause it's my favorite. =)

Coincidentally, I'm having a portabello veggie pizza right now, it's an "Atkins Diet" approved, low-carb entree from a local coffee shop here.... Good stuff.

I'm not doing the Atkins hting mind you, just like the pizza. It's a portabello top with mozzarella, broccoli, the stems of said mushroom, and some sauce....

Yummy yummy. =)

They have potato soup tonight too which is good, ran out of the roasted red pepper soup they had though.... =(

Oh yeah, and I picked up a slice of broccoli quiche, the soup, and a chocolate pepperment latte for the wife who's at work right now.

Our little coffee shop is a really cool place, kind of rare these days too. They have a nice kitchen with a variety of breakfast and lunch type entrees and soups and gourmet desserts. Plus a wide variety of good coffee drinks, not just from the pot but mixed lattes and such with various flavorings and special ingredients. All good stuff.

OPh yeah, and they juist happen to have a pizza margherita too, and foccacia bread sandwiches. Paninis too.

Their turkey chipotle panini is REALLY good. Also like the eggplant and goat cheese panini, but it's kinda high in salt and I avoid the prosciutto ham one for the same reasons....

No offense, but if I hear one more thing about LOW CARBS, I'm going to go spinning off into another galaxy and create chaos and mayhem. This low carb thing is getting carried a little too far. It's even infecting t.v. commercials now.

Me. too, Ross

Just the same ole high protein diet that's been around for years and years. I remember people 20 years ago practically passing out because their blood was loaded with ketones, and they weren't drinking enough water. It's very, very rough on your kidneys.

I don't care what's in it really (not including the sodium thing) as long as it tastes decent.

The Atkins wraps from Subway have less sodium than the regular subs, that's the only reason I tried it other than to try something different.

An "unscientific" study was done not too long ago following volunteers who tried out the different diet plans, including Atkins, over a period of I think a year. While some diets caused you to lose weight faster than others, the final loss in weight between the different diets was about the same after a year.

I really think no weight loss diet should be undertaken without the approval and close supervision of a doctor...
