yes, but

yes, but

Aye?????? Sell me a new one?
Gosh, I was hoping that if necessary they would replace it because I thought warranty laws might apply. I have had it for only 18 months:(

Well, I am going to think positive and hope that doing the battery thing will fix the problem.

yes bridgette, one would expect the coaguchek to last longer than 18 months and warranty laws should apply but:

- one would always be vulnerable to claims that the tester had not been looked after correctly

- and what is a fair and reasonable life span for such a machine? am not sure my memory is correct, but i seem to remember roach telling me the expected lifespan is 3 to 5 years subject to it not being treated like a football etc

Iv'e had my coagucheck xs since Jan last year
it showed error 8 once and i spoke with the pharmasist
guy i purchased it from and he said to clean out the test strip guide
remove the measurement chamber cover and sometimes it can get
just linty sitting,i too have a zippered case but even if you give it a
good pucker blow in there to get rid of anything linty and wipe the
white areas with DRY not WET and your cover, further if i had problems
more of same or other to bring it in.Your instruction book can guide you
through the clean of test strip guide too i think.I think he told me i need
to take it back every once in a year for service check also which they do
at no cost, but try a pucker in the test strip guide,i just pull mine off and
clean it at least 1 time a month and the error 8 hasnot ever come back.
or any other error yet! Just a thought for you,it may help, may not.
GOOD LUCK

Thanks guys - hey Deb thanks for that advice. I'm going to do that tomorrow - clean the test strip chamber etc. I've been meaning to do that for a while but I always get a bit nervous about fiddling around with something as sensitive as this machine, in case I stuff it up, lol..
But I will give it a go.

Thanks:)

So Westie, I guess I better start budgeting now for a new machine judging by what the Roche people told you!
I don't know about you, but I have to pay for machine, strips, everything myself - not like in the States where their insurance covers it. I have Southern Cross but my policy doesn't cover this. I don't know if any policies in NZ cover it, maybe some really expensive ones do?

Warranty and Roche

Warranty and Roche

My "S" stopped working and was not repairable when it had been in use for 18 months. When I contacted Roche they replaced my "S" without hesitation because of the 2-year warranty. The "S" broke down on Monday and by Friday of the same week I had my XS in time for testing on Monday morning as usual.
The "S" was still in stock and when I insisted on the XS there was a charge. Had I taken another "S" it would have been free.
So my warranty experience was favourable.
I have no idea of the life expectancy for either model.
