Hello, my name is Joe. I had AVR #2 one week ago today. My ejection fraction had dropped from 40% to now 30% since surgery.

The doctors and surgeon said it will likely come up in the coming months and hopefully get to 50%+ in the next 6-12 months.

I'm not sure if I believe this fully. I figured EF would automatically be better the second the new valve took place.

Does anyone have any input or personal stories on this, whether it be good or bad news.

Thank you 🙏

Mine dropped as well and I was admitted back to the hospital. Turns out that I was just retaining fluid and once I was put on Bumex I started to slowing improve. Mine was down to 15 percent but thankfully I was just shy of 40 percent at my last visit.

My EF returned to 60% two months post op. I am glad things are going in the right direction.

Congratulations, that's a good jump, from 40% pre-surgery to 30% post-op, and now up to very normal 60%. Did they give you any meds to that (EF) regard? or it was just a matter of time?
I was on Losartan.

The dr actually told me that Entresto works even better, but he read a study that favored Losartan for my situation. (unsure what that situation was).

I am still on:
Warfarin 5 mg
Metoprolol 50 mg
Simvistatin 20 mg

I am no longer taking:
Losartan 25 mg
Furosemide 20 mg
Pepcid
Potassium Klor pill
