Dizziness

Hello l had mitral val ring repair surgery last year around this time, Dr put me on metropalo
(Not spelling it right) anyway started having dizzy spells to the point of passing out, so Dr cut the dose in half, still happened so Dr cut it out completely,still happened,they did an ultra sound on both corarded arterys no issues, still happening, they are going to implant a heart monitor in my chest looks like a fuse from a car just wondering if anyone has experienced this

I had this surgery 13 years ago. I remember initially being on a bunch of beta blockers post surgery until I was weened off of them after a month or so. Fast fowarding into the present, I currently take Metoprolol Tartrate (2x a day) for AFib. One of the possible side effects can be dizzyness and/or drowsiness. I haven't experienced this personally however. It's purpose as I understand to to slow your heart rate. I have also been told that excess alcohol consumption may increase the side effects.

I'm off metoprolol but it's still happening alcohol consumption is not an issue they are gonna insert a heart monitor on thursday

sounds like perhaps a pacemaker if the word "insert" is anything to go by

If that's right then that should solve your issues.

No it's just a monitor, they wanted me to were one that sits on chest and records data and you mail it back in after a specific time, but the type of work I do is very physical and it falls off do to sweat, so this is the next step, they make a small incision put it in, then they set up an app on your phone, along with them having realtime access to your heart info

I'm wearing a monitor right now for 30 days. Mine is taped on and I change it every 3/4 days. No incision for me and no phone app. I'll send in the monitor (1"x2") at the end of the period. You shouldn't have a problem with it falling off.

If you go to the site from the link I added above, they have two types of patches. One gives real-time info. I didn't read all that info. I have the e-Patch maybe you're getting the MCOT monitor?

I think I can relate.

I had aortic valve replacement last year and had some extreme bouts of dizziness post surgery. I briefly passed out after one episode not too far out of surgery and people around me were concerned enough to take me to the ER - couldn't find anything from all the tests they ran.

Visited my cardiologist shortly after that visit to the ER and he reduced the Metoprolol dosage. He said I was ok to come off of it so I did a slow "ramp down" of the dosage until I was done. The thinking was that Metoprolol was the cause.

I still get bouts of dizziness though it has improved now that I am not on Metoprolol and what I do experience is not as severe. I sort of think Metoprolol could have been enhancing the severity of my dizziness but was not the root cause. What I do experience and have experienced is very random in terms of what I am doing at the time, not related to physical activity, not when standing/getting up after a while.

I'm not sure if it's something I should deal with, get more tests done or what. Aside from my heart valve ticking it has been the most persistent change I've dealt with post-op even 1+ yr out. I feel fine otherwise.

I can say that I can relate too, having been weeding the lawn, and feeling dizzy when standing up.

I suspect part of it is that I'm a lot closer to 60 than 50 now.

I did wear one during my recovery and it worked fine same thing it stuck to my chest and changed the battery when needec, then no physical exertion but now I have a very mobile physical job, were I'm in hot mechanical rooms,

Never the less it's being installed tomorrow, my main question was has anyone experienced the same symptoms

Just came back from having theo it installed took about an hour,small incision and they push it in now I have to pair it up with Bluetooth, they can see what's happening real time
