Hi,
I weighed 174 lbs at the time of my emergency surgery, and in only 3 days I dropped to 149 lbs. My body used every bit of energy it could find, I believe, to survive. I only had 7.6 % body fat at the time of the surgery, so most of what I lost was muscle. The doctors said that if I was not in such good shape at the time, I most likely would not have survived this surgery, and even told my wife to say her goodbyes to me, as I only had a 3 to 6 % chance of surviving. She didn't though.. She just said "don't worry everything will be OK!"
Today, 9 years and 2 days later, I weigh 173 lbs, perhaps with a bit more body fat, but that is due to the limits the doctors put on my lifting and exertion activities.
It could never be due to all the great German bier and schnetzel! hehehe.
