My dentist has been saying this to me. Maintain your dental health! It is often undervalued and neglected.
The bacteria got into my bloodstream from my mouth. Usually dental surgery, but possible with just flossing/brushing. I was tired and felt a flutter in my chest about 6 weeks before final diagnosis. I was increasingly tired, but it was finally a fever of 103 daily that prompted the tests that discovered the bacteremia and finally the infective endocarditis (IE). Scary stuff indeed. Back on exercise kick, 8.5km run and 10k row yest. Only limitation is heart rate to 140 only.Wow! Were there any symptoms befor the heart ? The infection got into the blood?
