We don't do daylight saving here in Az. We have SUNSHINE most of the time.:D
I don't want to rub it in though because alot of you guys freeze many months of the year.:(
I'm so glad spring is coming just put my spring decorations out the other day and it's been in the 80s here.:)
Come on over for a vr BBQ.:D:D
Cooker the park down the street has monkey bars!!!!

almost got a flush toilet....i got a flush bathroom!!! the whole room gets a good
flushing every night! the shower is directly over the squattie hole, requiring care
not to slip!! this is actually a good thing....not the slipping in part....as the 'toilet'
flushy part doesn't work all that well (nicely ripe in warm weather). still, you'd think
they'd engineer the shower to be off to the side. plumbing is not a bright spot in
chinese development. many of the older buildings have very poorly designed pipes,
such that flushing paper is not recommended. there's a little trash can next to the
squattie where you can make a deposit.

Most of North America is eating breakfast right now........

Sorry to be negative but I do not like DST. It means I will be waking up in the dark and that makes it very hard for me to get going. I need the energy from sunshine in the morning.

We don't change to DST and as far as the weather goes....it was -22F this morning and has warmed up to -16F.
On Monday we had a blizzard with complete white conditions.
Its a few days early ..granted, but "March IS coming in like Lion and should go out like a lamb" (this could be a prairie saying)

Since the time changes the only thing we have to adjust to is TV programing:)

Hey I should read this forum more often, good dose of much needed humor and getting away from the scary heart stuff.

N. CA has been gray for weeks (not that I am complaining, we need the rain). And it's already time for DST! Doesn't feel like Spring to me. We haven't even done the ski trip yet (where I get to relax in the comfort of the cabin while dh and son go out in the snow : )

Chou, my dear man, this sqauttie toilet is so much fun to talk about, I have to comment : ) You've got to use it the way it was intended! No toilet paper. Just use water like everyone else, in fact just shower afterwards so the whole squattie gets clean too. Actually, what shower? Aren't you supposed to take water from a bucket and pour it over yourself? We had to do that in India for a while when there was severe water shortage. CA might be getting there slowly : )

When we went to visit my parents in India a couple of years ago, we went to my uncle's house which had the squattie (most urban houses will have one of both, but my parents only have the western ones now), and my son , who was then 4, got so freaked out he refused to go! This was found to be amusing by one and all. Thank goodness my husband (a guy who never stepped out of the US before getting married to me: ) didn't have to face the same situation.

Chou, I can relate to what you're saying.
My first indoor toilet was after I enlisted in the USAF at age 17. I was 14 years old before we had electricity.

I'm another that doesn't like DST. I say leave the time alone.

72 here right now, suppose to hit 74 today.
Feels like spring has sprung.

It's 88 where we use to live in Texas. Was 92 yesterday.

Yahoo! It's still daylight when I get home!
Luky you, Lisa
As far as
i am concerned daylight savings time is the most useless thing anybody ever decided to try this does not actually change the number of da ligh thours It is supposed to save energy. Whoever decided that did not know anything about the deep south. We have only turned our ac off for 1 week in the past 2 years how does this save energy
Lettitia
Lettitia, Sorry that you feel like that...the main idea behind DLS is socializing and enjoying long summer nights. If you like, read below article.
Yea! DAylight savings time means it will be light a lot longer. As far as I am concerned, they can leave it that way.
Me, too, Deb, I wish they change it and leave it...there are undergoing studies these days on this subject. Will see.
Eva

I too love daylight saving, but your joy of your approaching daylight saving makes me sad because it means ours will be soon ending.
Mary, travel to here :D how long do you enjoy long day lights?
......I hate winter, even in Texas. I hate the cold and the dark. Hooray for spring and Daylight's savings time, so I can see sun in the morning and in the evening!
I am glad someone is as exited as I am!

Were being teased up here. It's nearly 50 right now, supposed to hit 57. About the same tomorrow until tomorrow evening, then it's back to winter and 30. I hate it.
no matter what, Ross, make the best of it...it will change

been in upper 90's all week, tomorrow supposed to break 100. already stored the
comforters and am sleeping nackedly. should be fine until monsoon season hits. we don't do daylight savings here.
Countries close/on the equator do not change...they have already 12 hours of daylight!
Eva-

I'm glad you posted about daylight savings time.

I wouldn't know here, that spring was around the corner ... We had snow again this morning. And we still have several feet of old snow on the ground. This has been one of the worst and longest winters in my memory.

It is supposed to warm up some today and tomorrow.

So a little more daylight will feel good.
YES, indeed...little but effective!

Are we forgetting that Pauxatawney (spelling?) Phil said 6 more weeks of winter at the beginning of Feb.:confused::confused: I am not a particular fan of Daylight Savings Time, but it is nice getting to work at 6:30 and it is already light. :)
Who is Pauxatawney?! March 8th is DLS ... March 21st is beginning of Spring. I am an evening person and I appreciate more light then!

I like it ?. More time on the monkey bars.:)
Yay! I knew you enjoy it...Your hair has grown very quickly?!!
We welcome the DST around here.....Bring It On!!
I get another of darkness in the morning to sleep, and hubby has another hour of daylight in the evening to play outside. EXACTLY...this is one of the main purposes of it
It doesn't save us anything on electricity because we only use a couple of CFLs in the evening anyway.

I don't want to rub it..........!!!!
You already did, Crystal!!

Sorry to be negative but I do not like DST. It means I will be waking up in the dark and that makes it very hard for me to get going. I need the energy from sunshine in the morning.
I agree, it is not fun for morning working people...but on the positive side and according to some studies, this DLS lowered the numbers of car accidents around 6 pm!!

Sorry for you all up in the cold weather...the sun will shine and warm you up no matter how long it might take it!
Hey I should read this forum more often, good dose of much needed humor and getting away from the scary heart stuff. You should...this is the entertainment side! .....
CA might be getting there slowly : ) We were lucky this year with rain...hope it continues!.

All of you, who do not like the DSL, blame it on Franklin :D

?The idea of daylight saving was first conceived by Benjamin Franklin during his sojourn as an American delegate in Paris in 1784, in an essay, ?An Economical Project.? Some of Franklin's friends, inventors of a new kind of oil lamp, were so taken by the scheme that they continued corresponding with Franklin even after he returned to America.?

http://www.webexhibits.org/daylightsaving/c.html

Another Excerpt: ? the primary reason that Daylight Saving Time is simply because people like to enjoy long summer evenings, and that reasons such as energy conservation are merely rationalizations.
According to some sources, DST saves energy. Studies done by the U.S. Department of Transportation in 1975 showed that Daylight Saving Time trims the entire country's electricity usage by a small but significant amount, about one percent each day, because less electricity is used for lighting and appliances. Similarly, in New Zealand, power companies have found that power usage decreases 3.5 percent when daylight saving starts. In the first week, peak evening consumption commonly drops around five percent.?

I'm with you!

Down here it doesn't get dark until 8/9pm anyway - why do I need daylight until 9/10pm?!!! Plus, it means the house is that much hotter for another hour since the overnight minimum tends to be in the early morning - so any energy saved on lighting (and we also use compact fluros) is more than negated by the use of fans and airconditioning.

It also annoys me to have to change up to a dozen timepieces twice a year.

I also have to wonder why Australia - which is the skin cancer capital of the world - wants to encourage people to spend more time outside in the middle of summer. Frankly I think DLS would make far more sense in winter (if you have to have it) when you would really appreciate that extra bit of light at the end of the day ('cause you're getting up in the dark anyway).

OK - rant over! :p

I'm with you!

Frankly I think DLS would make far more sense in winter (if you have to have it) when you would really appreciate that extra bit of light at the end of the day ....EXACTLY, this is what we all prefer to have it too...in winter time....so they can change it now but not to touch it again in the Fall!!

Time for the dark curtains to be hung. I like to sleep in.
Great...having curtains is helping with the economy!
An excerpt from main article: "There may also be an economic benefit to DST, as daylight evening hours encourage people to go out and shop, potentially spurring economic growth."

Eva,
You didn't convince me. I still hate the time change. :D

Dayton and others who are not convinced, how about this other reason/study from same article above:
"In addition, some argue that there is a public health benefit to Daylight Saving Time, as it decreases traffic accidents. Several studies in the U.S. and Great Britain have found that the DST daylight shift reduces net traffic accidents and fatalities by close to one percent. An increase in accidents in the dark mornings is more than offset by the evening decrease in accidents."

I am a total night person so I LOVE it when it's gets darker an hour later!!!
I love to ride my bike in the evening so now I we'll be able to ride from 6:00 to 7:00 and in the summer from 7:00-8:30. YEA I can't wait!!!
Debbie :) And warm weather here it comes!! :D:D
