These charts can be way off for some of us. A long time ago (18 years) I ran 6 miles a day (about 7 minutes per mile) over "lunch" and biked about 100 miles on the weekends. I had no extra weight (in my opinion). I weighed between 198 to 203. That would be 20 pounds over weight according to the charts, even for a "heavy build" (which I have). My conclusion--these charts can be way off for some of us.

Amen!!!! I agree 100%

Good point Dennis. For those who know they are fit and healthy, the numbers don't matter. For those who are 20 pounds over and don't work out, it's just a little extra nudge. The limit for my age and height is 163. I know I would be a bit chunky at 163 given my frame. So even tho' I could pat myself on the back a little for being in the range - I know I'm a bit oversized  for my frame.

Karylnn.same thing happened to me..hummm?Tomorrow, I m going to bring my old scale in the kitchen next to my new scales..Compare..also will get Hubby to weigh on both when he gets up..I think I remember I was 168lbs at my last checkup..in May.. Doctor scales..Why I was shocked to see I had gained 10 lbs( new scales)Understand I could have gained 5 lbs over the summer. So hot..no exercise....Makes no difference. I still need to lose weight:p ...so I am sticking with my Cooker thread..on my new Weight-watcher scales..Bonnie

Karlynn- Those charts are a bit too kind to me too. I am definitely, as you say, "a bit chunky" (...er...more than a bit, actually:( ) at the highest edge of my acceptable range. Despite a BMI of 25, my GP actually told me to lose weight at my last appointment. Uhg!

Feeling like I'm losing my momentum already. Got an huge case of the munchies! I miss my chips!

Cindy bought some baked doritos last week, nacho cheese flavor I think. I'm not into baked chips. Might as well eat a rice cake as far as I'm concerned. Anway, these were surprisingly good. Might come in handy at times like these.

Karlyn, the charts you linked actually hit me about right....on the high end of their scale. They remind me of where Cindy and I were before we gave into temptation again...and again....and again.

I just ate the most fabulous pizza ever. I'm not sure if it really counts as "diet" food. I got it off of Rachel Ray's 30 Minute Meals. I made sure to only eat what qualified as 1 serving (1/4 of the pizza), even though I could have eaten the whole darn thing. You can see the recipe (and a picture) at Food Network. It's super easy to make and SOOOOO tasty. I don't think I've been this enthusiastic about a new recipe in quite some time. And it only took about 20 minutes to make (the site says 15, but when you have to keep checking the recipe because you feel like you've forgotten something it takes a bit longer)!

It isn't too terrible for you. It uses a boboli pizza crust, a can of fire roasted tomoatoes, olives, garlic, crushed red pepper, and anchovi paste, then topped with slices of fresh mozerella. YUM!!! Surely this counts as healthy, right? I guess the sodium content is probably too high, due to the canned tomatoes, olives, and cheese, but at least it's not red meat or cream sauce...

Okay, so now that I've tortured you all, you can go make one and help me feel less bad about having pizza when I'm trying to loose weight. ;)

First..lost 8 oz. from yesterday.:D Put me into the next lowest lbs.:p Now if I can just hold that until Monday..Can post a 1 lbs lost...:) (my goal)..Now, on the scles. i weigh 2 lbs less on old ones..and Hubby the same. But I am staying with new scales. I got the munches, too, last night..so I just went to bed.:D Bonnie

I guess the new scale will be fine. This a.m. it showed me at 155.5, yesterday around noon (the first time I used it - okay first several times since I kept stepping on it to check to see if it was what I thought it was:eek: ) it said 159.

So I'll just go from there.

I used pounds as my concrete goal, but my true goal is how my clothes fit. As long as they keep getting more loose, I'm happy.

I have stayed away from the scales for the most part. Weight can fluctuate from day to day and this hard enough with out freaking myself out over a pound or two or three.

I had cold cuts for lunch yesterday?.no dressing:mad: and no bread:mad: and some pickles (dill). I figured for dinner I could have a double scoop of ice cream:) since I had been so good?.logic won out and I had two chicken breast (fried with most skin removed) and some cole-slaw.

This is hard!!!! I need a Snickers bar!!!!! :p

There is a really cute new Weight Watchers (I think) ad about a woman at her job sticking with her diet with some kind of WW snack bar. She is very harried and then runs to the elevator and her skirt falls off and trips her on her way into the elevator.....the quip being that WW can't remind you to buy new clothes that fit! Well done little ad.

BOB!. Please switch to celery. Less sugar. The act of rinsing, slicing and bagging the celery will calm down the hunger pangs and you won't eat as much. Dip one in some low fat peanut butter for a little surge of protein to curb the pangs.

I've been sluggish all week. Walking and Curving today!

Fat Chat sounds fun.

:D Marguerite

Marguerite, I saw that ad and really got a good chuckle out of it! The last shot is of the skirt going up closed in the elevator door.

Bob - or celery and low-fat ranch dressing if you're not a peanut butter person.

Carrots are fairly high in carbohydrates (sugars) for a vegetable. If I have some, I'll only have a few. It works for some, but for me, they just tend to trigger that "I-need-a-brownie-bad!" urge.

Everyone - make sure you're drinking lots of water!

Snicker bars are easy to eat and you don't need Ranch Dressing:p :p :p Can ya tell I need a fix?

Hey you low-carbers....have you tried Breyers' Carbsmart chocolate ice cream? It's really good and it has only 4 carbs per 1/2 cup serving. I understand that this may be a bad suggestion if sweets are your Achilles Heel.

On WW I've been eating lowfat Breyers Chocolate ice cream. Doesn't taste lowfat and is 2 points per 1/2 cup.
