I left at 7:30 a.m. to drive to daughters house to help with a neighborhood yard sale..Figured I could watch the kids..:) By the time I had driven 30 miles,,got a hunger pain and went thru Burger King. Ordered a ham/biscuit with water...Soo good.:D But around 1 P.m. I asked family if I could go out and get them some food. yes, from mcDonalds...Daughter a quarter pounder meal..S/I/l the chicken wraps and 2 kiddies meals...I was NOT hungry..When they were eating their food. Grandson said, I am not hungry..so I said, give me a chicken nugget..Grandaughter was so cute. she broke off 1/4 of her hamburger for me..so I ate it..(not to hurt her feelings):p ..All I have had to eat today. Still not hungry....but Hubby will grill some steaks tonight..I will eat it and some Veggies....I noticed on the drive home..60 miles, I got quite sleepy..just from that tiny bit of food from the Grands...Don;t know how anyone still eating fast food for lunch ..can go back and work.. When I left at 3 P.m...daughter was complaining..about how sleepy she was..and was going to take a nap with with the kids....Probably that Quarter-pounder meal she ate?:p Bonnie

Help!

Help!

Help, Cooker and Cooker's merry band! I have started on a week that could destroy my Throw-Down progress. Tomorrow is our 41st wedding anniversary. My wife has a sweeth tooth like you wouldn't believe, so I got her a lemon chess pie from a great bakery. She insisted I taste it, so tonight I did. It is totally addictive of course. I am having trouble stopping at just a little slice.

And today she bought the ingredients to fix me a blueberry pie tomorrow, my favorite.

Then to top it off, Wednesday is my daughter's birthday and we will all go out for a huge feast.

I could regain 12 pounds in this week alone!

What do I do? Cooker, do I get a mulligan? Is this the time to resort to that prune juice regimen I gave you so much grief about? Should I ride my exercise bike all night?

I think a mulligan is perfectly acceptable.

Try eating something high fiber/low cal to fill your stomach before you go out to eat - celery, 7-grain toast or some such thing.

Drink lots of water this week.

Eat your slice of blueberry pie slowly - take small bites, concentrate on how delicious each bite tastes. Give your brain time to register all the deliciousness.

Maybe it will give your weight loss a boost when all is said and done.

I think blueberries have lots of fiber....I know chocolate cake does:D :p :D

Hey, Mulligan Man!!! (Cooker, that is)

We have another at the crossroads of chow down and throw down!! Better get out your approval stamp and let this fellow enjoy his anniversary. That's my vote, if I have one. Based on my performance, I probably don't.

Bob: Seriously, I think Karlynn's suggestions are great. I hope you have a wonderful anniversary....and congratulations on 41 years.

He has a pass for the week!!!! 41 years!! A wonderful testimony of love.

Wow, I can totally tell my stomach is shrinking. Today I made some taco salad (used ground turkey instead of ground beef to cut downt he calories and sodium), which I make quite often. I made my usual serving (mostly iceburg lettus, so didn't figure it would be a big deal, throwdown-wise). I had eaten barely half and was stuffed! Of course, that didn't stop me from eating a few more bites, but at least now I know I don't need to make so much next time!

OK, saw the cardio on Thursday, had my tests done last week. They weighed me on Thursday morning, since I haven't weighed I will put that down.

Fully dressed with wallet, keys and 700+ page book in hands I was 214. Doc said I lost 9 pounds in 6 months? I didn't think I had gotten that heavy. I hadn't made any changes to my eating habits just getting back to a normal routine.

I will try to weigh myself tomorrow afternoon and post tomorrow night.

Congratulations to everyone that is still doing this, whether or not this has been a "down" week.

Congrats to you/yours on your 41st. Ann...:) .We just celebrated the same #..1 week ago..:D I had cupcakes for after the picnic...and Grands devoured them ALL..:p ....Maybe try a Slim -Fast for breakfast/lunch....and enjoy that Pie..and daughter's party..:D .....I am going to try somethings different this week....more water/walking.......in hopes of dropping a lb..by Friday...Tired of looking at same weight.. 2 weeks with no change..:( but at least NO gain..:D Bonnie

The last two weeks have proven to be the hardest for me. The Friday weigh in gives my addictive oriented mind license to go nuts for a couple of days. Then I struggle to lose what I have gained and then some. Holy Moly!!! They say that the first step is to recognize the problem, not like it took a genius.

Being from the south, an actual notch in the Bible belt, canned soup was never, I mean never served as a meal. It was occasionally used in a casserole but only when time was an issue. My wife has been sick and one night said she really wanted some chicken noodle soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. Not wanting to disappoint and not having time to pluck a chicken I stopped by the store and searched the isle. Now to the point of this verbose discourse. I have found that I like several of the Progresso soups and that this could be a big help in my reduction plan.:D And it comes in microwavable containers!!:D :D

For lunch today, one container (2 cups, 200 calories) Progresso Chicken and Wild Rice, an apple and diet Pepsi. This could be very helpful to me. Who said you can?t teach an old dog new tricks??????.Please don?t tell my mama.;)

Sounds good to me. I think I will get some of that soup. Not usually a soup person, but I've been so bored with what I'm eating that soup is just as good as anything to me now.

I'm not telling your mama. That would get a rise out of the south for sure. Canned soup....heaven forbid!!!

To tell the truth, changing the weigh in date to Friday didn't sound like a good idea to me, because the Monday's weigh in provided added discipline for the two most difficult days (the weekend). But, I am on such a slow moving weight loss plan that I have hardly noticed so far.

Dennis, I think I would agree....weighing on Monday keeps most folks in line for the weekend. You are all trying so hard, what a great group. The low sodium soups can be very good with some whole grain crackers and cheese on the side.

Whole grain crackers and cheese on the side. YES YES YES!!! Low sodium NEVER NEVER NEVER!!!

Bob! Congratulations on your 41st wedding anniversary! That is lovely!!!!! I definitely think you should just enjoy the celebration completely with your favorite foods...then take your lovely wife on a long walk in a pretty place and watch the sun set, or the moon rise. Just walk it off and don't worry about it at all!

Cooker and all....PLEASE be watchful of the sodium levels in that processed soup!! Progresso is very very salty. It could easily confound your weight watching by making you retain fluids. Also, that styrofoam......I dunno.....I'm always so suspicious of that stuff in a microwave and possible gasses or chemicals leaching from the styrofoam into the soup. Yecchhh. Sorry, that's just me.

PJ, sounds like you have a wonderful plan and a partner!! It's great to have someone in the household who is thinking like you. I'm sure you will have great success with your effort. My husband has been very reluctant to join my crusade and I finally just started mentioning little better choice things for him. Now he has sushi 3 times a week for lunch, we don't visit our fast food favorite place much anymore on weekends for lunch, he drinks more water......it's like I gave him a little education and it's finally sinking in. I'm just watching him make better choices and I'm hoping eventually he'll start asking me to prepare less stuffy foods.

I spent the weekend at the coast. Had a beer, several bowls of clam chowder, fish and chips, some Starbucks iced mochas..... ate totally differently from how I normally, now, eat. We also did alot of beach walking and a hike. Foolishly I just checked the scales and I'm back up 4.5 pounds! But you know, I don't care because I know that my "new lifestyle" of smaller and more frequent meals, regular exercise and smaller portions will probably bring me back to where I was in a day or two. I did my 2 mile walk and 40 minutes of Curves today. I'll do it all week, and my clothes will continue to fit more loosely, and my habits will continue to improve. I don't care what one little weekend did....it's all about a conscious choice to make each day of my normal life count for a healthier me.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK EVERYONE!

Marguerite
