I've discovered a way for me to consume less calories at a movie theater. The last two movies we saw were foreign and had subtitles. Saw one tonight; it had lots of dialogue. Being that I had to read the subtitles to my wife, my mouth was otherwise occupied and couldn't chew much popcorn and such. We still had fun and the ladies who sat in front of us were good sports.

We then spent too much time in a fancy shmancy art store after getting into a conversation with the owner. Then we spent too much time in an art supply store. What I'm getting at is Cindy wanted to listen to the Kentucky Wildcats and Louisville Cardinals football game (Kentucky won...Cindy was ecstatic). We were going to go in a restaurant and eat something sensible. She would've missed a lot of her game at that point, so we grabbed junk at McDonald's. Oh well.

Time to recover my losses.

...I'm just a little late...

Congrats on the fabulous weight-losses so far everyone...

I spent the last 2 1/2 days without internet access which is why I didnt post on Friday...
I achieved a 1lb loss on Monday before the change to Fridays was announced. I then managed to gain that back along with an extra pound or two, so I now am the same as my starting weight. Frustrating but at least I have you guys to be accountable to otherwise I would just have some more cookies and be done with it. I really cant afford to snack at all unless I work off the extra calories on the treadmill.

Are any of you with mechanicals showing any INR changes with this new healthier eating?
Kathleen

My bad - no weigh-in for me on Friday. I left at 3 a.m. for our houseboat trip. I'll not weigh until this Friday and will post it then like a good girl. If someone wishes to send me to the principal's office for playing hooky on Friday, I'll serve detention without complaint.

Bring a note from home and you will be excused:D :D

I bought a talking refrigerator that said "Oink" every time I opened the door. It made me hungry for pork chops. ~Marie Mott:) :D :)

Confession of a Loser

Confession of a Loser

I could not stay off the scales this morning. I knew that the Friday weigh in would allow me a "free" Friday night dinner but I did not expect it to roll all the way through Sunday!!!! Up two ponds from my Friday weight:eek: No one to blame but myself. It is so easy to fall back into old patterns. So it is back on the hard line. It is hard to lose and easy to put on.

My exercise has been almost zero:eek: . I need to get with it. Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner and scaring me to death.

One of my friends hates to exercise, but needs to for health reasons.
So whenever he has to park the car at work, the store, bank, restaurant or wherever, he parks much further away than normal and that forces him to walk. Also skip the elevator and escalator, take the stairs!

No change here...but then I havent changed the quantity of greens that I eat by any great ammount...I have lessened the times I allow myself to indulge in chocolate and cake which should ideally be limited anyway:eek: . I remember reading somewhere that it takes a BIG change in greens or vit.K. rich foods to have any impact on your INR and even then the difference is only small.

I know, I am very late. Here is the deal, don't expect to hear from me until Monday. There is no way I will be able to post on Friday.

Starting - 212
Goal - 187
This week - 211

Yes, I finally lost a pound. I figured out what I have to do to lose a pound in a week. I have to ride an extra 40 miles and run an extra 5.

Seriously, I will cut my food intake a bit starting next week, I have a 6 hour endurance race this weekend so can't make changes to my eating habits. The problem is, the body can only convert 300 calories per hour from fat to energy, during this type of ride I will burn 600 to 800 calories per hour, that means if I don't consume the proper foods I will run out of energy before the end of the race. I will typically consume about 500 calories per hour during the ride and that is based on proper food intake prior to the event. This is the last race until January though so I can start doing slower aerobic type rides for the next couple of months, training for the race in January will start mid November.

Enough rambling for now.

Curves?

Curves?

Did my walking and curves 3 times this week, so starting to get back on track. Clothes are somewhat looser, though not much weight difference.

Beginning 189. Today 186.

Pathetic total loss of 3 pounds....but it will improve!! :)

Marguerite

Cooker...you ROCK!! good for you!!

Marguerite - I picked up on your Curves quote - I currently go to Curves and love it - how soon after surgery were you able to get back to it? Since March I've lost 15" and 12 pounds watching what I eat and doing Curves 3 days a week. Slow and steady.

Plateauville

Plateauville

I must have hit Plateauville. The scales are not budging. I have been on the road a good bit the past 10 days -- for fun and for work, and it is hard to stay on a plan. Yesterday I was in the car and found a pack of peanut butter nabs my wife had stowed for emergency purposes and I wolfed them down though I didn't need them. Two hundred frivolous calories -- hated myself. It's hard to be strong. At least I will give myself this -- I have been around dessert trays brimming with all kinds of sweet goodness in the past two weeks, and I have abstained. At least that's something. Give me half a gold star. :D

I'm not going to report my weight today, let's just say that I've decided to go with the starting weight on my new scales of 159 as my benchmark!

Diet Facts

A diet is a weigh of life.

It's not the minutes spent at the table that put on weight, it's the seconds.

It's something most of us do religiously: We eat what we want and pray we don't gain weight.

The problem with curbing our appetites is that most of us do it at the drive in window of McDonalds.

The most fattening thing you can put in an ice cream sundae is a spoon.

Sweets are the destiny that shapes our ends.

Diets are for people who are thick and tired of it.

The toughest part of a diet isn't watching what you eat. It's watching what other people eat.

A diet is when you have to go to some length to change your width.

Most people gain weight by having intimate dinners for two...alone.

A diet is what you go on when not only can't you fit into the store's dresses, you can't fit into the dressing room.
