Yeah, it's happened to me a few times too. There was one time on an elevator a woman piped up, "Someone's got a loud watch on." Just then the doors opened to my floor and as I stepped off I turned to her and quietly said, "No, that's my heart." Silence...

The first night I was home from the hospital my husband and I were laying in bed and he said "Man, my watch is-- digital?" It dawned on him mid-sentence that it couldn't be his watch and that it must be my heart. I've gotten the watch comment more than once. The best was when I was visiting a friend in West Virginia and no matter how many times I told her it was my heart she kept insisting that it HAD to be a watch. I finally held up my watch and showed her there was no second hand... Later, when we were out of the car, I let her put her ear to my chest and she was finally convinced that the sound was, indeed, my heart and not my watch. :)

Superbob has gone back and forth about whether to post here this week. Anyway, for the record, his weight was exactly the same as the previous week: 257.5 pounds, down 22.5 pounds from the start on July 30, 2007. It is frustrating not being able to take long walks because of the knee, but am trying to hang in there. Found a really informative book, "The Knee Crisis" (apt name) at Barnes & Noble today.

Good job SuperBob!!!...Staying the same is victory that I would love to have.....I am packing it on like a beast of burden.....completely out of control:mad:

SuperBob...The Knee Crisis...lol....how cute is that!...hope its a good read....how is the Glucosamine going?...I havent noticed any difference in my back and hubby gave up only a few days after starting....

Karlynn...I had to laugh at your cheeky Wii trainer and the comments re: hubby!...I wonder what it would say about the rest of us.

Ton, it's "The Knee Crisis Handbook," by Brian Halpern, M.D., published by Rodale Press. www.rodalestore.com

The more I'm reading it, the more I like it. In addition to all the stuff about the knee, it has good sections on diet, nutrition, and exercise. The author says that while there may not be absolute proof yet that glucosamine/chondroiten sulfate are a "cure," there is abundant anecdotal evidence, including in his practice, that they work. I have been taking them for about a month, and I am seeing some improvement -- don't know if it's the PT or the supplements --- maybe a combination. I would think you would need to take them for an extended period of time to have any chance of getting good effect from them.

Ugh! I was just about to get on the Wii Fit when Nathan came into the room and decided to watch TV. :( We only have one TV, so now I have to wait...

A few more months on Wii and he will be afraid to cross you:rolleyes::eek:.....Tell him to get off the couch and do it with you......and that's easy for me to say:rolleyes::rolleyes:

He's actually done it the last two days... But only after I've done it. Last night, before we went to bed, I said "You need to do the Wii Fit." So he did it. Doubt he would have if I hadn't said something... When he finishes this show I plan to ask if I can get on... That may motivate him to do so after me. :)

Just do the Hoola Hoop in Aerobics! - he won't ask to watch TV!!!!! ;) :D

LOL!!! That is SO funny you said that! He stopped watching TV and I asked if I could get on the Fit. He said "I was about to do that, but go ahead." Well, I knew I'd still be motivated to do it when he got done, so I told him to go before me. When he got done I immediately took over... And when I finished the hoola hoop one he said "Do that one again!" :D Cracked me up! Then to read your comment made it doubly funny! :D :D

SuperBob....Thats great that you feel your knee is a little better...I wish my hubby had the patience to try the stuff for longer...All the writing I have read says that it has shown most promise in helping those with dodgy knees so I was really hoping for a miracle to get any benefit for my back...oh well...at least it was only $10, I will continue until the bottle is empty and am still trying to get hubby to try the pills again as its his knee that is bothering him.

Ton, I really think the glucosamine is helping. Of course, I have no way to prove it, but I do hope exercises and the supplements will let me avoid surgery. And the doc in this book gives a strong endorsement to the glucosamine supplements -- says has helped many of his patients.

It works for some and not for others so I think it is a great sign that it is helping SuperBob??If I could remember to take it every night it might help me a bit more too?..Hoping you can avoid the knife!!

Superbob, I like hearing about progress from you! :D But don't overdo it, either.

Karlynn, I have a question for you on the Wii Fit. Do you have it do your "body test" every day (where it measures your weight and BMI)? I realize I just started, but it's a bit dishartening when you go up and down and up and down the way I have been. This morning it asked me why I thought I was gaining weight! :( I'm only up .8 from the first day I started! It didn't give me the option of saying "water retention" for a reason... :p I'm starting to think once a week sounds better. But I like to put the stamp on each day! ;)

I don't weigh more than once a week. I agree that it's depressing to see that line go back up again. Unfortunately, you can't get a stamp without doing the body test. :( I'm a sucker for stamps.

Niki and Karlynn, let me get this straight --- this fancy exercise machine NAGS at you???!!!:eek: Good grief, what are spouses for? :p

Yes... But at least it's not a real human being so you can just push the power button and ignore it. ;) Granted, when I got the thing I didn't realize it was going to nag. But it also tells me I'm a bodybuilder, so I guess I'll forgive it. ;)
