Wow! some of you are doing great. Evelyn, that is wonderful! I'm the exact same as last week. I looked up my weight on my posts several months ago and it made me feel a little better. From that weight I'm down about 11 lbs. :)
Next week it might be even more.

I was going to post a little ago but when I came to one of the jokes here I had to go tell it to my husband who just finished his chicken casserole. Anyway, I love the humor on this thread!

THANKS ALL!!!

I've got a lonnnnng way to go, but it starts at 2 lbs. I have to say, we even got up this morning and walked and will probably do the same tomorrow unless it rains. Would love to be able to walk 4x a week.....maybe that will help even more.

Evelyn

I was finally able to get on the scale in the morning. It looks like I might actually be down half a pound. Not sure, since I don't have a digital scale, but the arrow was in between the 132 and 133 lines. :D So I'm going to call downward movement!

Chasing after a baby is hard work. But even harder is eating healthy while doing it. I'm going to have to come up with some good (and super quick) healthy recipes before we get a kid of our own or I'm in trouble!

Hello everyone! It's sunday night...oh well.

Friday the 18th hubby and I were supposed to be headed to the coast for a little weekend away. We were happy that my 2 year Valversary was on a friday. But, my father ended up needing to go to the ER (they completely overdosed him on his new meds, or he's had a stroke or something). Anyway, we sat all day on friday in the ER. LATER I insisted on celebrating that night and we went to an Outback for dinner and I had 3 drinks, a steak and a POTATO!! and their fancy brownie dessert. Boy! I'm still full!!!

So now I"m back on course to some degree. Salads for lunch and dinner (okay, a little sushi, too) and hoping that I'll be able to find some time to walk what with dealing with social workers, lawyers, doctors and convalescent homes (or wherever).

You'd think that all the tears I've cried in the last month would have found their way to a loss on the scales!! But NO! Sadness tends to work in the opposite direction! A bag of chocolates here, a box of cookies there, a huge potato and wine and liquor. THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!!!!

So I am BACK. I've got to be here. You guys were keeping me light (in all the ways of that word's meaning).

Best wishes to all for a strong and dilligent week of losing.

 Marguerite

Marguerite,

I am late catching up on this. Congrats on your Valversary! Sorry, though, that you've been going through some tough times. Hope your father is doing much better by now.

As far as the Throw Down, every day is a new day for us all. I need to get going again on this too, to take pressure off my knee if nothing else. Appreciate the thoughts you sent in another thread about dealing with this.

So welcome back -- hope we'll be getting some spring sunshine in more ways than one soon! :)

Marguerite, I'm sorry about this turn of events. What you say about sadness is so important. Generally instead of being supported during sad times, we end up taking consolation in the chocolates, cookies, potatoes, wine and liquor. Then, we beat ourselves up about it. I do see that this group helps with that too, not just weight loss accountability.

We are offering prayers and best wishes for your dad during this time AND for you as you continue to ensure his care and well being. This is a tiring labor of love, for which you need strength and support again. Of course, as we get healthier ourselves we get stronger. Here's wishing you a week of happiness and success.

Marguerite, I understand what you are saying.... Being bummed out seems to go hand in hand with cookies, cakes, and other forms of naughty-ness. I guess the first line of defence is to avoid those items in the store. My hubby has trouble with that! We now have trail mix and dry cereal for nibbling on, and we do buy some hard candies for a little sugar treat when needed.
When we go for our Sunday lunch-out, we share one piece of cake.
It's very hard at first, but I don't want hubby to blow up!
Congratulations on your 2 year anniversary.:)

Marguerite, I'm so sorry you had to celebrate your (valve)anniversary the way you did and hope your dad is on the mend. It sure doesn't seem like two years already have passed since your surgery. I guess that means the rest of us have gotten two years older during that time. Oh well, so be it. Without the surgery many of us wouldn't have made it that long anyway so I guess it really is a reason to celebrate after all.

Superbob is right. Every day here on Cooker's throwdown is a brand new start. And you have an advantage...you are starting "full".

I hope this week is a better one for you. For Superbob too with his bum knee and all. We'll all just hang tough and we will make it and loose some weight along the way.

Thank you Bob, Wise, Bina and Betty!

Today is better. My father snapped out of it. Very wierd. He's not out of the woods yet but apparently seniors (he's 88) can become "somnabulant" even with the slightest thing wrong inside them. Well, he was virtually asleep for 4 days and so incredibly unresponsive. Then as I was just patting his hands and rubbing his shoulders and neck (to no response whatsoever) I kinda poked down by his tummy and he thrashed and growled and really responded. I mentioned it to a nurse. He mentioned it to a doctor and then today that doctor tells me...well....I poked around a little and noticed how sensitive he was around the bladder area and in fact, it was full!! So we put in a cath and emptied out quite a bit and honestly...15 minutes later he was smiling and talking and wide awake!! And he's been fine ever since...well....I mean we have to get him peeing again on his own somehow, but at least he's awake!!! I am encouraged.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. They really mean alot. And I know others who "know" me here would be thinking of me too....so thanks to those who would be thinking and praying!! ;)

Well, I've been eating light..lotsa salads. Just have to get myself moving again. Walked a little too fast with some friends monday and angered my knee abit, so bowling tomorrow and then walking my own pace by myself on Thursday and friday. I'll try to add Curves back into the mix. She (the owner) keeps buying more machines for the little room but they are all stepping type or crouching type and I can't do any of that with my bad knee. So I'm trying to put together a little workout at home.

Anyone use TheraBands? They are for resistance training and muscle building and I really like the "simple" exercises and the way you can do them at home. I started up with them at cardiac rehab.

I'll weigh in this friday again and get back on my numbers game.

Thanks again!

Marguerite

Marguerite, that is great that finally your dad has a response...even if it was due to the poking. ;)
Actually the full bladder thing can be sometimes hard to figure out. Since my pregnancy 23 yrs ago, I have trouble to empty my bladder fully and I really don't even feel it full. Bizarre.
