Hello all. Sorry I missed Friday as I was out of town for a long weekend visiting our daughter in college. I didn't eat my normal little meals and had a monstrously huge dinner out one night at such an unusual place (wild boar, ostrich, elk, etc.) that I'm afraid to get on the scales. Topped that meal off with a Spanish coffee (daughter is actually just 20, so I ordered it for her to enjoy! Didn't drink too much of it) which accompanied the best fudgy dark chocolate cake with caramel sauce and cashews I've had ever. Oh, yum! Our plane got in late and we stopped for sushi to watch the end of the World Series game....west coast, but still late......husband ordered TOO much! but of course we ate it all. I will walk today and weigh in tomorrow.

Bonnie, you are being so true to your plan!!! GOOD GIRL!!

Others, you seem to be hanging in there just fine. Don't give up the ship.

Cooker, I am so sorry for your loss. This sounded like a very difficult one for you. My sympathies.

Keep moving everyone!!!

Marguerite

It bothers me that there was a 4 lb difference in my weight on the new scale. So I'm going to use the old scale again. I'll just bump it up to about +5 and use that when I weigh next week.

So .... after all this.

My official weight for today - 155. nuff said:cool:

I weighed in this past Friday but I am torn.........If I weigh in on Friday I can blow the weekend and have four days to recover.....If I weigh in on Mondys I might blow the week and try and recover on the weekend.......

"the only habit I don't have is self control":(
I see that the Monday vs Friday dilemma continues.........:p
What about Wednesday Weigh Ins?????

Superbob ate pretty much non-stop for three days: a Big Mac on the road, 560 cals, 260 fat cals, a heart attack in a box  . . . take-out Chinese food, several selections, all drenched in sweetness  . . . his own renowed pancakes made for his granddaughter's birthday party . . . left-over Chinese for lunch  . . . take-out pizza and spaghetti for dinner  . . . scones galore with coffeee and lattes at neighborhood Starbucks  . . . a hot dog with the fixins on the drive home  . . .

And despite all that carb-filled, calorie-filled eating (not a celery stick in sight!), Superbob did not gain any weight!

Has he achieved some mystical change in his metabolism? Or did chasing his grandchildren and their chocolate lab puppy around the fields for three days burn off all those cals? :)

Superbob was so busy chowing down, he even missed the great vr.com blackout! That's one good thing -- missing that.

Lets hope the mystical change in his metabolism is not a time delay fuse:p :D .....good to have you back..............nice trip?

Superbob may even drop more this week. Sometimes, if we've been dieting and losing and then reach a plateau or slow down a bit, a weekend of lots of cals will kick-start the weight loss again by reving up the metabolism.

Now having each weekend be a kick-start weekend can be problematic.

I'm just waiting to pick up some speed in the first place. It's like I started out on a plateau!!!

Karlynn.....are you saying I can jump start with a Big Mac??????:D :D :D

When I tried to get online a couple of days ago the site was down. Anyway, my starting weight was 187 and today it is 183 for a net loss of 4 lbs. It is slow going but I'm glad it is going in the right direction at least.

I have my home scales at 5 lbs so it corresponds with the scale at the fitness center and at my PMC's office. That way it isn't so disheartening every time I have to weigh at one of those places. I just started a beta blocker and Zetia for high cholesterol so am digging in my heels to prevent a gain.

I hope everyone has a really good week!

Wow, Betty -- four pounds is great! Congrats!

Karlynn, I loved your kick-start analysis! :) I think you may well have a good point. Of course, I will try to keep my kick-starts very occasional because I know that too many of them will have me bogged down instead of revved up. :p :p

SuperBlob is a distinct possibility though. I threw away my peanut butter. Was eating it right out of the jar at 3 a.m.

Bonnie,

Occasional hot dog or burger may not be so bad, but it's that take-out KFC that gets me! I just have to avoid it, when at all possible. But food for fun occasions -- sure, we've go to do that. Now comes Halloween! :p

Marguerite

Thanks to the admonishments and or encouragements that Marguerite keeps giving I have refurbished my walking program.:D After work at night was just not working so I have gone back to a morning walk. It is getting cold here so it is back to the mall:( ??I am planning to go Monday through Friday. Depending on when my wife gets away I should be able to get in anywhere between thirty minutes to an hour. I don?t really like mall walking but it is better than Lazy Boy riding.:p Maybe this will jump start another losing spree.
