Hi folks

Jan here, and I need help, first a little about my weight journey

In July 2003 I joined WW and weighed in at 226 pounds I wanted to lose weight for a planned trip to the USA by
July I had lost 42 pound and felt so much better, I continued with WW and by May 2004 had reached my goal weight of 154 pound. a total loss off 72 pound

I styayed within my range until January 2009 ( a few pound on, a few pound off)
since then have gained 17 pounds so am determined to get back to goal.
I have developed so many bad eating habits like eating huge suppers late at night but hope to get back on track with a little help from my friends.

I weighed in on Thursday and was 172 pound that was 1 pound down from the previous week
so am feeling positive

Cheers

Yahoo For you Jan ... so good to hear from you and join the ThrowDown ... I have been stuck between 195 and 025 range for some time now but I have started walking so maybe that will help ... I try to stay as close to my WW points as possible but Cindy and Wise are better than I am so maybe they will share some secrets... I also eat late and enjoy it ... I really don't think it matters when, just what and how much ... So good to have you in our zany group of losers:biggrin2:

I've got an IDEA! Rhena and I have been the only gals weighing in since Laurie had surgery. Since Jan has joined our group, maybe it's time for a contest that pits male against female. I know that there are more male members than females, but I don't think a little thing (male members) like that should stop us. When Laurie returns, we could add her to our ranks.
It would provide me with some needed motivation!
Everyone think about it and chime in with your thoughts--when, how long, prize for the winning team.:wink2:

Darn right game on ... the only thing little is going to be the amount if weight you gals lose compared to the guys ... little members? ... you obviously don't know us very well:biggrin2:

Now that school for me is OVER I need to get back into shape. Last time I checked in I was in the 215 pound range. I know that I am well over that right now. My docs at Hopkins think I need to be 190 to 195. With being 6'3" at 200 I looked sick. My cardio doc here thinks I looked good at 210. I am setting my goal at 210. I will post my official weight on Friday and start the gym training thing over the weekend. Here we go again.

When I got down to 173, seven years ago, people thought I was sick ... I think some of the weight ranges are bogus ... not sure what my goal will be but I will know it when I get there ... when I am happy about the way I look and feel ... I think you have a very reasonable goal ....

Throwdown throwdown

Throwdown throwdown

I do not understand the term throwdown, my cooker weighs a good 200lbs so I couldn't pick it up let alone throw it anywhere. Throw Up in the U.K. (Europe to some) means to be sick Argghh; so where does that leave throwdown? Is it something to do with the getting regular thread?

Please explain :)

"Throwdown" is a bit of slang. The Urban Dictionary gives several definitions, some of them humorous:

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=throwdown

But I guess the No. 1 definition of a "fight" approximates what our "Cooker" (that's a nickname of one of our members) intended -- that we would challenge each other in our weight losing. Instead of being a real competition, it's been more of a support group -- though one of our feisty females wants to turn it now into a boy/girl competition. We know how that will turn out -- the gals don't have a chance. :p

Some of the other Urban Dictionary defs might apply too -- particularly the one about eating a lot. We talk about food incessantly.

But in general, our friend Cooker -- aka The Chimp -- started this thread to help folks lose weight in a fun way. We'd love to have you join us.

Thanks for the invitation, I shall be pleased to join you but not to lose weight as I am 5'9" and weigh 150lbs, this gives a low BMI. I shall be pleased to offer any advice and encouragement whenever.
I used to weigh more but not much, my wife always cooks healthy meals and we have watched our weight for decades. My tip is for anyone losing weight is the take more calories out than you put in, never eat french fries or junk food and don't have sugar or add salt. I am sure you know this already but keeping to it is difficult. I don't slavishly follow it either, if the aforementioned are given me to eat I will eat them, and enjoy them. I was only 95lbs after the water came off following my surgery so I have now got to where I want to be weightwise.
Good luck to everyone.

No french fries, no sugar, no salt ... Blasphemy:eek2::eek2::eek2:

French Fries, or Potato Chips as they are more comonly called here are my biggest weakness. I had to cut them out almost completely to loose weight. But I weighed in this morning, and have now met my goal of loosing 20kg (thats around 44 pounds for the rest of you), so I'm having fries with lunch to celebrate!
