Good job Wise! ... Has Cindy been indulging in some early Halloween treats?:biggrin2:

As far as Cindy goes, I know she had one day where she said she ate junk. I know it wasn't halloween candy since we don't even have any. I suspect it's mystery junk that she's hoping to shed a little of before weighing.

Yes, I want to continue through Christmas Eve or whatever day it is. Beyond then, as well. I haven't made as much progress lately, but without this thread I KNOW that I would have gained during this last stretch.

Looking ahead . . . . we could do the Reindeer Dash (er) right up to the last Friday before Christmas . . . that would actually be Christmas Eve . . . . then reconvene the first Friday of 2011.

Any takers?

Heavyweight champions don't give rematches right away.

I think an event -- not a race -- to see who can come closest to maintaining their current weight between now and Christmas Eve would be good. I think Rhena suggested something like this, creative gal that she is.

Then, starting January 2, the guys could give the girlies a rematch in the Saint Paddy's Day Race II.

Well it's 4:30AM so there is no telling what I might type:wink2: ... rematch, I'm with SB, no:tongue2: ... maintaining though the holidays will be a major victory for all ... Saint Paddy's Day Race II, great idea and chance for the ladies to shed the "weaker sex" title and muscle past the men ... oops, muscle weighs more than fat and that may be a hint as to why we kicked you gals butts ... OK men, what shall we demand for our victory?????

Whoa......talk about early risers..!!:tongue2:

Wonder if Señor Cooker is sure all women are the "weaker sex"..:biggrin2:

Okey dokey, I'm at a total loss of EIGHT pounds for the Pumpkin Race. Yep, it could have been more and it could have been less - but I'll sure take the 8 pounds..:biggrin2: After all, if I continue this for a year I could be down 48 pounds...:eek2:...well, let's not push it!

I truly enjoyed the banter and accountability and what fun this has been. I really wish we could continue, but I'll have to suck it up and do it myself..

Wow - lots of good-hearted happy chatter going on as sadly the Great Pumpkin race has come to an end and what a race it was!! Good job to everyone all around. Anyone have pumpkin pie yet? I see Mary had a Danish! I know y'all have probably been thinking I had some great weight loss or something and was going to steal the win for the girls and that's why I've been holding out! I know ya'll have! I wish that were the case. I have been sick as a dog after some dental surgery Thursday. I thought they were just cutting on gum round one tooth, but feels more like three to me. Keep playing with the stitch with my tongue and I gotta stop that!. Anyway, on my way to work on Friday I got so nauseous but I made it to work - barely logged on and had to go lay down for an hr. then finally got myself back home after 3 very unpleasant stops. Obviously caused by dental work. But I hadn't had a pain pill (darvocet) in 12 hrs when I felt sick and it had been 24 hrs since whatever sedative they gave me. I called periodontist today and told him my theory that scraping and poking around on up upper left molars screwed with my inner ear/ equlibrium. Of course he doens't agree - more likely a sinus infection or something that got stirred up he says. It was like the worse sea sickness I ever had though and dramamine seemed to help me more than anything else I tried so I don't care what the dentist says - it was like motion sickness. I don't think it could at all be related to my heart valve. OK - enough of a talk about that horrible subject on Halloween! Not even up to eating candy. In fact I don't even have any. I gave out min-bags of buttered popcorn and lots left - but I can't eat popcorn because of my dental surgery! Oh the irony!!! :):)

OK - enough whining. I know what you really want to know! Now if I counted my weight this morning I would have been down by my 2 lbs goal. As it was, I weighed on my usual day so to be fair we'll take that number. So I was down 1.2 lbs as of my official weigh day!

I'll get spreadsheet together tomorrow sometime. No doubt the girls will have to concede to the guys - job well done!:p:p Good strong finish SB! As the hairy one f said we all came out of it for the better win or lose! Even if you didn't lose - image in if you hadn't been making an effort.!! I haven't calculated my final numbers, but I know it is over an 11 lb loss for me personally so it definitely worked to motivate me!:thumbup:

Watch this space tomorrow for the final posting of the Great Pumpkin Race spreadsheet!! :D

Well, I have polished off most of the Halloween candy and am ready to lose a few more pound before I take the month of December as a mulligan :tongue2: ... Good job to everyone and let's keep this Throwdown rolling "down" hill:biggrin2:

Congratulations to us guys!!!!! Everyone else carried the "weight" of this win and I get to share the credit. Sweet (makes me want to eat pumpkin pie. Italian cream cake would be even better).

Rhena, that sounds like a painful yucky ordeal you've been through. Best wishes for a quick recovery. Thanks for keeping us all straight and the work you did for our pumpkin race.

SB, I hope your dental issue is resolved without a lot of pain and that no pesky bacteria raises its ugly head.

Cooker, maybe if you get a wheelchair then you won't be falling? Can you swing in a wheelchair? Seriously, hope you're feeling better.

Mary, I remember you were having a very troublesome issue. I hope you're making an improvement. What was that again?

Still praying for Betty's little great nephew Spence.

I am going to try to keep up the weight loss efforts right on through Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years and beyond, ad infinitum (or so it seems).

Goodness, Rhena, I am so sorry to hear that you've had all that to endure following the dental surgery. I am hoping and praying you are starting to feel much better by now.
I have a consult with a dental surgeon Wednesday, then he will decide when to do the procedure. He wants to check all my meds, etc. Did you use any form of sedation? Guess that's something I have to decide.

I also have a rather momentous echo coming up the 15th -- my surgeon in Virginia has just mailed me an order to give to the cardio's office here to have a report and CD sent to him of the echo, particularly wanting to look at the "ascending aortic aneurysm" (gulp). So I don't know if he's reviewed everything again and become more concerned, or that was just an assistant's action. Guess we'll know what's what after the 15th. If there has been any more growth (from 5.1), it will be of concern. (Sorry, I just had to vent a little about all this. Hard to talk to family about all this.)

My best to all others -- the Chimp, Mary...? -- who are working their way through their own difficulties.

The Pumpkin Race was fun. For our "prize," I think we boys will just settle for being told we are the greatest. :D Then we will give y'all gals a chance to earn back the honors in our next mini-race. Meanwhile, I am good with reporting in every week, just hoping to maintain through the holidays, more or less. Best to all... :smile2:

OK -- yall are the greatest - I curtsy to you all . I won't name any names - but we know who really pulled the guy's team to victory. Thanks for your concern SB. I'm better now - just still feeling drained, and a little queasy but I feel tired all the time anyway it seems like. Cardio promises me I'll feel better after surgery - he better not be lying. Good luck to you on echo - does sound like a momentous one. I was supposed to have one in 3 months, (Nov.) but now that surgery is not too far down the road cardio is giving me a pass. Yeah! I can save that $500 to pay for the remodel of my bath. So much going on in my world right now - trying to get ready for cruise too on the down low with my parents here as they still don't know we are going along!

Speaking of parents, 60 years ago today they tied the knot. Not many couples make it that far. It was just immediate family going out to eat and then looking back through their old wedding album and reading all the presents they got recalling funny family moments, etc. Very nice. Did you know that in 1950 gas was only .27 a gallon?

Anyway, due to said family celebration and being behind at work after being out sick, I didn't get to promised spreadsheet today. I hate when I promise to do something and don't! I'd do it now but it is on my computer at work. I make another promise to publish as soon as I can tomorrow (meaning once the boss is in a meeting or something.) It really isn't any problem to do and I was glad to do it. I'm all for starting another race AFTER the holidays - but let's all try not to go too hog wild and undo all the good we did. As long as the trend is downwards - or the same - and we feel good in our jeans - that is what counts.:biggrin2:

I've done WW (good program and support) and I've done Curve's (still trying to do Curves) and their support group, but I gotta tell ya throwdowners - y'all beat those support groups all to hell.

Janie, your post sounded like you were leaving us - hope that isn't so and you keep hanging in with us throwdowners. I like knowing you are just 'down the road a piece.'

Duffey - I failed to notice that while you were downing that Danish you were posting a 1.5 lb loss! Good for you! Maybe we won after all?

So manyana fellow throwdowners. We all ran a good race!

Ge Bob, I hope things go great with your echo. I have one coming up on the 23 of this month, increase in SOB, mild chest pain and a couple of incidents of almost passing out has me going in early for my yearly echo (doing a little stressing, but not bad)
I do want to thank all the throwdowners for letting me join the club!, I like the idea of starting up at the first of the year. I plan on attempting to continue to loose a little each week even thru the holidays!! It has been fun.

It seems like the Great Pumpkin Race was a diversion that many of the Throwdowners needed ... All who participate in the weekly Throwdowns are dear to my heart and I'm keeping you in my prayers...

I'd like to extend my congratulations to the Guy Group for a race well run! :smile2:You definitely beat the Lasses--this time! :wink2: I've got a special recipe I'd like to share as my contribution to the Prize Pot . . . . look for it once we get official confirmation from Rhena that a winner has indeed been crowned.

Drumroll Pleeeez!

It's official - the guys have won! 33.9 lbs for the guys and 24.3 lbs. for the girls. But think about it throwdowners. That is a total of 58.2 lbs that have vanished from our combined bodies! Have you ever picked up a 40 lb bag of garden soil! Well it's very heavy and we lost that and more. I'm pround of us all. But special congrats to the guys! You done good!

The top 3 losers were:

Super Duper Bob with 14.4 lbs
Me Myself and I - 12.6 lbs
Scott NZ - 8.8 lbs (just beating ShezaGirlie by a mere.8 lbs)

YEAH FOR US! Here is the final spreadsheet! ........ NOT! Rats, I'm out of room on my file manager and it want let me upload it. Let me see if I can figure out how to delete some of the old ones - but that'll have to wait until I'm not supposed to be working!

Woohoo :)

Thanks for letting me participate in kilograms.
I am aiming just to maintain from here on, which will be a challange in itself over the Christmas period.

Rhena, you have done great (both in the race and in record-keeping), and don't knock yourself out with a final spreadsheet. We know you have a lot going on right now, with the pending surgery and everything.

We guys shouldn't gloat -- we all done good! :D My real accomplishment will be if I can maintain (within a 2 or 3 pound window) over the coming holidays. My DW is alreeady planning huge feasts, bless her. :D
