Under the House version of the health "care" bill, people in my age demographic (old) would be required -- required! -- to have end-of-life counseling with a government overlord every 5 years, or more often if one had any kind of chronic condition that might shorten life. (Starts on page 425 of this monstrosity; I've read it.)
Now, given that bleak prospect -- living in a country that used to be about "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" but now will value some people dead more than alive -- why should it make any difference what I eat or what I weigh? In fact, I would be doing a service to Obama-Kevorkian Care if I gorged myself with doughnuts every day, smoked three packs of cigs, and drove at high speeds while unbuckled. Could very well shorten life and thereby help with cost-cutting. So given what's coming, the Throwdown seems increasingly irrelevant for someone in my advanced demographic group.
