This is the dawning of a new weigh-in week. Wishing all the best to all Throwdowners...congrats for staying the course -- overcoming temporary setbacks, and forging ahead. Such is life. You are all models of perseverance.

Averaging frequent weigh-ins at doctors' offices and the hospital lately, Superbob pegs his current weight in the low 260s -- above the goal of seeing the 250s, Which has been only glimpsed briefly and fleetingly so far this year. Not going to get more specific than that, given all that's coming, including PT galore. Will need to weigh accurately then, and hope to make progress.

Well, best wishes to all as this new weigh-in week begins!

Bob ... we will all hold good hopes and prayers for your surgery ... the PT may give you an edge on the weight loss ... I hear that the PT rule is that once ambulatory you must walk to your favorite eating spot ... and you can not move next door to said spot :tongue2:

I did break into the 140's this week, but the reason for it is not one I'd recommend. I came down with either a horrid stomach virus or food poisoning Easter night. Four days later and I still have no appetite.

Last week: 151.5
This week: 148.5
Loss: 3

Bob, we'll be cheering you on from the sidelines!:smile2:

Oh no, Mary -- so sorry to hear this -- hope you will feel better soon.

Cooker, my pre-op instructions say I should expect a decline in appetite for a few weeks. But they are not taking account of a super appetite, obviously. :tongue2:

Hey, everybody - let's behave here. Mary - no more sickies. Get better and get back to life, regardless of what it says on the scale. Your focus and determination will win out, I'm sure.

SB - Hang in there. Soon you will be a new "more bionic" Super-Super Bob. From what I've heard, though, the rehab can be a stinker. Just keep on being yourself - do just a little bit more than they think you can. My colleague at work, who had a knee replaced a couple of years ago, found that if she consistently gave rehab 110%+, she came out of it far better than any of her trainers ever imagined. With your spirit and strength, I expect you will do fine.

Mr. Chimp - I haven't "seen" you in a while. Hope all is well and that you will be able to join us more often again.

For myself, I'm still on "light-duty." I am allowed to walk all I can stand, but I don't have time to do anything extreme, so my weekly mileage definitely is taking a hit. In addition, I am not allowed to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk until I see my surgeon again in about 3 more weeks. I'm going crazier with the inactivity, but I'm determined to follow instructions in order to attain the best recovery I can. My "little" op was a piece of cake compared to what others have gone through, but nonetheless I do not want to repeat it unnecessarily.

Let's keep on keepin' on! Life is good!

Keep on keepin' on! Great post, Steve --- keep on truckin' ---

I'm sure the restrictions are getting old, but you are wise to stick with the game plan.

Where are all our other Throwdowners? -- it's nearly Friday night!

If it's lack of a number for Superbob that's holding back reporting, it's 261.4 --- still down 3.6 for the year but not meaning a lot with the hospital stay ahead and PT to come. Hoping for all kinds of progress ahead.

Just read an interesting study from American Heart Association journal that brisk walking yields just as many health benefits as does running -- in terms of reducing high blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes risk. The key word surely is "brisk," which I can't achieve now but hope to be able to do again soon.

Let's go Throwdowners!

I am up 2 pounds this week, but I thought I had behaved a little better. I am at 190.2, which is down 4.3 for the year. Cindy is down to 159.2 from last weeks weight of 162. She was happy!

One thing I'm happy about is that I walked 8.8 miles this week. I was using a watch to measure my distance but it wasn't working well. I discovered an app for my iPhone called Moves which does an excellent job keeping track of distance walked. Although I didn't lose weight, I'm happy to now mileage to report this week.

Our Colombian friend, Edwin, is now coming to Louisville on Monday, April 8, and he is staying three months. We were able to get him a good deal on a short-term lease of a furnished condo with all of the needs and wants that most of us require, i.e. utilities, cable, and internet. All of these months of studying together and getting familiar with each other's lives and families, we feel like good friends. Cindy and I excited to be welcoming him at the airport Monday evening.

SB, still keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. I have a great feeling about this surgery. I know you'll be a beast during recovery!

Duffey, get well. Sorry to hear about the food poisoning!

Steve, sounds like you're doing all the right things. Keep mending up well!

Cooker, it sounds like you're spirits are up. Hope working is not being a bear; stress can wear you down, I know.

Have a good week everyone!

Good job, SB, on staying down in the very low 60's. Congrats, Wise, on your mileage! I haven't been able to do anything this week, but I'm hopeful that I will feel good enough next week to get some heavy duty walking done. Awesome job, Cindy!

Hope you enjoy the visit of your Colombian friend, Wise & Cindy. Good going with the walking, Wise, and the weight loss, Cindy.

Duffey, I hope you feel better very soon. (It's time for the Cardinals to get well, too!)

I need to get back with some type of plan ... thinking of mixing swimming and walking; I'm just not getting the results I want with just swimming ... Work continues to be an issue stress wise but I'm no diff from any other working stiff ... health is ok, just subject to aging which in itself is a blessing ...

Cooker, I understand that dilemma. Aging, even with the unrequested gifts it bestows upon us, requires that we combat its effects with healthy life changes to have better years ahead. Still I don't think it's fair that we can't eat more chocolate, cakes, pies, chicken pot pies, Italian anything, starchy anything, etc. I swear I feel aches and pains in muscles I didn't know I had!

I did walk tonight ... just 30 minutes but big hills ... baby steps ... Remember to keep Bob in your prayers tomorrow for his knee surgery.... Godspeed Bob:thumbup:

By the time we all are finished with these bodies, we will all have collections of medical hardware that would boggle the minds of mere mortals!

I'm now up to 3 "bionic" additions -- my valve, my pacemaker and now the polypropylene mesh that holds my innards in place after the hernia repair. What's next?

Superbob's son posted on FB yesterday that the surgery went well. :smile2: Now all we need is an update from the Man of Steel himself. I hope it is sooner rather than later, but I also understand it will be hard to juggle rehab commitments with computer time.
