Don't worry about Super Bowl calories. It's just once a year and there are not any calories in those chips, and chili, and cake, etc.

Anyway, I'm watching with Cindy. She's for Denver. I'm for the beer I had and the Hershey's kisses I'm having now, hehe.

Superbob shudda known that a great defense beats a great offense. Congrats to the Seahawks. Next year: the Carolina Panthers, another tough defensive team.

Although I was pulling for the Seahawks it was not much of a game... never have liked one-sided contest ...

Maybe my weight swings track the weather ... 60's yesterday and 40's today ... SC weather is like a good woman, unpredictable :wink2:

Chicago weather is pretty unpredictable, too. Many of us wish we could be a Chicago weather forecaster -- they get to be wrong almost all the time, and still keep their jobs.

I'm not really sure of the statistics anymore, but they are again forecasting snow for tonight and tomorrow. Another 3-6 inches supposed to be on the way. We know it will snow, but it honestly could be anything from flurries to a foot or more. This makes me glad that I replaced the 27 year-old snowblower last year. There are none to be had in the stores any more. No electric space heaters, either (I had to borrow the two I use in my office.)

And, being in Chicago, we still have 2 or 3 months of this to go. . .

Having grown up in Northwest Indiana, I remember walking to school and back home, uphill both ways, in lots and lots of snow. It had to snow a foot to get out of school then, hehe.

We go five inches of snow yesterday. It was about as welcome as a toothache at our house. We've had a lot of snow and cold weather, so we should be used to it.

I will do well to lose weight this week. Throwdowners, this might be your chance to overtake me in the race to St. Paddy's Day.

Well, the weather man said we got 5 inches of new snow by 6 AM today. Apparently he didn't take his measurement in my driveway. Some parts were over a foot deep. The low spots were 4 or 5 inches. I'll give him a "close enough" because of the drifting.

This might actually help me lose a few ounces this week - all the extra "weight" lifting with a snow shovel (and dragging around a 120 lb snow blower).

Seesaw weather here --- close to freezing one day, 70s the next -- but we of the Palmetto State should not gripe about our winters compared to the Windy City's.

Be careful with that snow shoveling, Steve -- but I'm reckoning the last thing you need is a lecture on that subject from a guy here in the subtropics. :tongue2:

I, too, think I'll keep what I have, now that I have it. If all this snow melted at once, we would be in for epic flooding.

SB - You're not the first to lecture me about the shoveling. My cardio was the first. I said, "Well, since you told me that I could do light weight-lifting with high rep counts, as long as I keep the weight on the shovel under control, isn't that the same thing?" He had to agree. He also admitted that since I didn't have any profound arterial blockages (one was 50% blocked, but we bypassed that pre-emptively), I was probably fine doing as I have been. Good thing he said that, as I had no intention of changing my evil ways. . .

Hello throw downers.

Isn't it funny how the weather has become obsessive to us all? Mobile, Al isn't meant to be this cold. We only have cotton and linen clothes down here. With the occasional fleece that we pull out once in a blue moon.

Good news is, you burn more calories in the cold weather when you exercise! Wahoo.

If all you have is lightweight clothing, the secret is "layers." You can wear several tops, and it will be as warm (or warmer) than a heavy jacket. The same for pants and even gloves.

Here in Chicago, when it gets cold, I wear a North Face 700 down jacket (one of their warmer ones), along with a Polar-Tech fleece vest underneath. I wear a long scarf and a knit cap. Gloves are a must, and if you don't need finger-dexterity, mittens are warmer. Hiking boots with "boot socks" keep the feet warm. Now, if we could only find somewhere to pile some of this snow. . .
