Holy cow!!!! ... I did not know that my eating habits would draw such scrutiny .... Thanks for the concerns but TheChimp is getting protein (thanks Bob) and staying low fat (thanks Steve) ... as I type I am enjoying a peanut butter, banana and honey sandwich on wheat bread with a glass of skim milk ... I have been faithful to my swimming and cutting way down on between meal snacks and when I have a snack it’s fruit or nuts etc .... The results, I’m down three pounds for the week and I have enjoyed not dieting .... eating what I want in proper portions and cutting down on snacking may be my magic bullet ....

How has your week been? ... I hope everyone is well and enjoying better health ... we all seem to be so busy and we should pat ourselves on the back for even making the effort ... Have a great week:smile2:

2013 Starting Weight: 231
Last Week: 228.5
This Week: 225.5

Good going Cooker! Actually I am following the not dieting plan also. Didn't think of it that way, but I think we're following a similar path, except for swimming. I swim like a rock, but I eat like a champion!!

I've eaten in restaurants two days in a row. I've made excellent choices, but I'm sure the hidden sodium and fat will minimize my loss. I'll find out in the morning.

Oh, do you like Craisins? I sometimes eat those with walnuts as an on-the-go snack, if needed.

Good going, Captain Cooker! Your good-news post also allayed my fears -- I was afraid you were going without bananas. Since I see you are still consuming bananas, I will not worry. A chimp without bananas would be like a superhero without a cape. :eek2:

I had heavy-duty dental work this morning. To reward myself, I got a stack of the best blueberry pancakes I have ever eaten. I used no-sugar syrup, so I don't think the caloric damage was catastrophic.

Superbob will weigh tomorrow.

You two guys are the best!!! ... Wise, I really think not being on a diet may be the key ... I have always dieted and always failed ... anyway I'm too old to deny myself the finer foods of life:biggrin2:

Bob... nothing better than good blueberry pancakes ... wishing you the best on the dental work:thumbup:

A first ( I think ) for TheChimp ... we went to our local Greek cafe last night and I brought half my dinner home ... it was large and I decided after the first bite I was not going to over eat ... victory one meal at a time:thumbup:

OK - Which one of you guys tossed me on this roller coaster? I seem to have ups and downs in weight, but I seem to be ending up where I started. Here's what I mean:

Start of year 164.6
Last week 164.6
Today 164.6

I go up or down as much as 2 pounds from day to day. I assume that this is fluid retention, so as far as my "real" weight, I'm stuck. Maybe not a bad place to be stuck, but annoying nonetheless. It does beat my peak last year, when I hit just over 170.

So, Mr. Chimp, other than bananas (too binding!), what do you suggest?

Superbob's New Year's starting weight was 265

Last week he was at 261.2

Today he is at 261.2

Net loss for 2013: 3.8 pounds

Although I would love to be down within my short-term goal of a "new normal" in the 250s, I take this as progress. Got to be patient with the weight loss. No pigging out and putting weight back on is good news.

Since last fall, I have lost about 10 pounds, and my slacks are starting to get, well, "slacker" in places -- but not around the midsection. I need to start getting down on the floor and doing tummy exercises every day. Then I can buy slimmer slacks -- a real morale boost! :smile2:

All best to all --- banter later. :biggrin2:

Here's our report:

CINDY:

Starting weight: 157.8
Last Week: 156.6
This Week: 158.8
Weekly change: +2
Net Change: +1

WISE:

Starting weight: 194.5
Last week: 188.6
This week: 186.3
Weekly change: -2.3
Net change: -8.2

Good job all! Steve, the last 10 or so are stubborn evil pounds to lose. You'll get there. SB, you're well on your way to your next goal of being permanently under 250. Cooker, hand claps from Cindy and me our your success at the restaurant. Stopping when you're full is a great idea for us all!

So far, with the exception of Cooker, it looks like we could call this our "losing in small increments" week, and that is fine with me.:smile2:
I've played nurse all week. It started off with a middle of the night trip to the ER with our daughter, who has spent the last three days in terrible discomfort with a kidney stone that refuses to move. Yesterday I picked up another "patient" when granddaughter Haley came down with stomach flu. She typically spends Thursday night with us, due to her folks' work schedule, so since she can't go to school, I've got double the workload and no expectation of overtime pay.:wink2:
Anyway, last week I weighed 150. This week I weigh 149.5
Hopefully we'll have better weather next week, and I'll be able to resume walking. I'm ready to kiss January goodbye and embrace February's arrival with open arms.:tongue2: Everyone have a good week!:smile2:

Hey Wise, I'm just reading your post. Good going!

Thanks Duffey! I'm happy that I'm once again on a good path.

1/2 pound is good, especially with your topsy turvy world right now. Hope your daughter is relieved of that "obstacle" to good health soon and your granddaughter gets well soon also.

I'm in the holding pattern this week;

Start wt. 146.3
Last week: 142.5
Monday (WW weigh in) 142.5
Today: 143.3
Up a tad, but it's probably fluid, as I'm doing my ellliptical (not real hard, but as hard as I can, and extending the time), and I'm staying w/in my WW points.

I think many of us are kind of holding our own, with fluctuations driven by fluid gain or loss. I think this is not a bad thing. As long as we do not gain, we can get back into weight loss mode once we stabilize the fluids.

I'm entering a bad spot today - dinner out with my daughter and her fiancee at a local "notable" Northern Italian restaurant. I'll probably pick up a couple of pounds of fluid and have to work it off over the week. As long as it is just a couple of pounds, I can usually lose it within days. If it is extreme, it is back to the medicine chest. . .

Medicine chest = prune juice from the early days of the Throwdown. A certain ref used to ban such substances. I guess since we're not racing anywhere, it will be allowed? ; )

Actually I'd like to know if there is interest in a friendly walking contest, such as who is the first to either walk or swim the average distance between our home cities? I may need some type of challenge such as this to get in gear regarding aerobic exercise.

I dunno -- racing against a Kentucky Flash who is slimming down so rapidly he is gong to be even flashier? :eek2: I think we should wait until the Flash has lost 10 more pounds, THEN mark the start of a new race (prune juice permitted)....:tongue2:

All agreeable to me, EXCEPT I need to be permitted to use some other elixir other than prune juice! Prune juice does not pass these lips. Pepto bismal? Milk of magnesia? Turpentine?

Ok ... I'm in ... if TheFlash will work out the numbers I'll record my swimming distance which I think should be 2X ... in other words a 1/2 mile swim equals 1 mile walk:thumbup:

Okay, Superbob is in, too, except he thinks walking a mile with a zero-cartilage knee and with spinal stenosis = 10 miles. Oops, SB forgot -- he possesses superpowers. :wink2:

Okay, SB is in but he needs to acquire a really good pedometer (have never run across one that actually works well), because I have no accurate measure of some of these walks Superdawg leads me on. Okay, I can estimate; since SB and SD walk practically every day, betcha they can win this race.

This afternoon I will figure out the mileage and submit it for group approval, especially since I'm not exactly a math whiz. At least it won't require calculus.

SB, my money is on you and Superdog because consistency is at least half the race. In all fairness, until your knee is as bionic as the rest of you, I think you should count 2 miles for every 1 that you and Sadie walk. I understand about knee pain.

Cooker, that sounds right about the swimming. That's such a workout, from what I hear.
