Mom2angel,

I have recently lost some weight and trying desperately to keep it off! Advice I got from a trainer was to drink ALOT of water. Divide your weight in half and that's the number of ounces you drink. Seems to help!!!!

My formula is to drink water when I am thirsty. I would avoid formulas that say you should drink huge quantities whether you are thirsty or not. Under the one you mentioned, I would have to drink 130 ounces of water a day, and actually you can make yourself sick drinking too much water. Under the eight glasses a day guideline some recommend, I would drink less than half what's in your trainer's formula -- but I don't count either bottles or glasses, unless we're talking Jack Daniels. :tongue2: Here's what the Mayo Clinic says, for whatever it's worth:

I want to join this thread and start checking in. Can't guarantee I'll do it every week. I'm horrible at online commitments..lol But, i do check in to my facebook accountability group, and it's fun. A group of women that keep each other accountable for working out. I recently said that my goal was to lose 4 lbs by my Cardiology appt, Feb 13. So far the scale hasn't budged, but it's only been 3 days, and I can tell my body is already getting stronger. I have an extra 13 pounds of baby weight to lose :0 I actually lost it all after delivery, just from bleeding internally and not being aloud to eat in hospital for awhile. But, I put it back on from taking care of a newborn, lack of sleep, and all that goes along with having a newborn. My baby is 17 1/2 months old now, so it's time to get serious about losing these 13 pounds, before I become comfortable with them. I will try to check in every Friday and see what everyone is up to, and post my progress. Keep up the good work, everyone!
My weight: 145 (actually 146..shhhh)
pre pregnancy: 132 (that's my goal)
first short-term goal (be down to 141 by Cardio appt Feb 13th)

mom2angel, we do welcome you enthusiastically, as our Throwdown Founder, Cooker (aka The Chimp), said… We look forward to your posts as you work toward toward goal, as we do to ours, and our members will be here to offer encouragement

mbeard is also a most welcomed newcomer to the forum -- we seem to be growing in numbers with the new year, and that's great!

I had to ask Cindy who the wide receiver quarterback was. She says Randall Cobb? Me have no clue, lol.

No, Kentucky Flash, the receiver-turned-QB was not Randall Cobb. That would have been no surprise, because he is a tremendous athlete. It was some unheralded wide receiver stuck in at QB in an emergency, and the Vols in the waning Derek Dooley years were so dysfunctional they couldn't take advantage. I think the Vols are now headed toward a big resurgence -- one of top five football recruiting classes in nation coming in for 2014. (Thought I would brighten your day with that news.):biggrin2:

I will pass this information on to the football fan in the family, Cindy, hehe. Actually, I barely know what a QB is let alone a wide receiver. Good luck to the Vols in rebuilding. I know that Kentucky's football team is always thinking that they're rebuilding, but their results don't reflect it.

Wow, wow, wow -- WW weigh-in today…. saving numbers for TD Friday -- but let's just say that Superbob is back down within the goal that he set for himself to accomplish by end of 2013….. now it's a new year, new goal. SB intends to keep on trackin' and truckin' --- :thumb up:

Can taste that Saint Paddy's Day winner's reward: a big ol' scone! :D

Wow! Great progress superhero!

Sounds very promising, Superbob!

Greetings to mbeard and mom2angel also!

I'm sick again. The doctor's not sure what it is, but I had x-rays today to rule out both pneumonia and a collapsed lung. He also had blood cultures run. No word on that, but he said he was just doing it out of an over-abundance of caution due to my valve. Anyway, long story short, there's been no exercising on my part. Maybe NEXT week!

Darn Duffey. I am sorry you are under the weather. I am too with a sinus infection. Thanks For the welcome. I was wondering where the far side of the moon was. ? Thinking back to a nursery rhythm.?

I see you're from Mobile, mbeard. I wonder if you associate the moon with the Moon Pie Drop that your fair city is associated with? The event is televised on our local CBS affiliate which is where I get my info from. I hope you get over the sinus infection quick. This winter has been harsh enough without adding illness to the mix.

So sorry to hear this, Duffey. For goodness sakes, don't worry about weight right now. Just get well. Saying my prayers for you.

The moon pie drop in Mobile, Al is very popular... The moon pie goes back to Mardi GRAS, which really started in Mobile not New Orleans. I need to get the stats on the size of the"dropping Moon Pie", it is enormous.
