Calling a Moon Pie a delicacy is subjective. I personally don't like them, and it has nothing to do with my being raised on the Northern bank of the Ohio River; thereby technically making me a Yankee.;):p

I was born in Kentucky, raised in Northern Indiana, ate many a moon pie in my childhood, but I'm afraid, just like pinto beans (or soup beans to us), I have lost the taste for moon pies. Maybe the Yankee thing does run deeper than we thought. ;)

However, I have heard that the correct beverage to accompany moon pies is RC Cola. My father-in-law also liked them with orange crush.

We went to a movie yesterday (The Blind Side = excellent) and I got some retro candy from Meijer to smuggle into the theater; sugar babies, malted milk balls, and boston baked beans. This reminded me of the moon pie theme of this thread. I can attest that those candies are no better for the waist than moon pies. Why couldn't I just get one kind of candy? Because they were only $1.00 each, that's why.

Afterward, we went shopping. Then we ate at Macaroni Grill. It looks like I will be having lots of vegetables and exercise the rest of the week.

Superbob has used up his sympathy card for 2010 already, so he will just say he's dealing with things one at a time, and will start a new course of physical therapy Thursday to try to stave off spinal stenosis from messing up long walks with Superdawg. Superbob will say only that he hopes his new physical therapist will be "motivational" as all others have been for the three different rounds of therapy he has had for assorted conditions over the past six years, and that this will lead to progress in the Throwdown too. :):)

Where's TX Wildflower? We need her here to help with the motivational level.;)
Actually, I'm very motivated, but this am the stupid scales showed a one and a half pound gain since last Thursday's weigh-in.
Jeez-louise, I hate stupid scales.

I'm baaaaack!! :p:p Not surprisingly there is more of me now than there was when I left for my island vacation in St. Lucia. I had a fantastic time and yet I consumed not a single moon pie!!:):) I am not telling you how many pina coladas I consumed though (mostly because I can't remember...) I also had to drown my sorrows in food and drink over the loss of my beloved Longhorns to the Crimson Tide (what a dorky name for a team anyway - not that I am a sore loser or anything. I'll bet they down lots of moon pies and RC Colas in Alabamaland...)

Sounds to me like everyone except for myself and the 'hairy one' are off to a good start on the St. Patty Day lose a thon(g)! (Wise I am granting you amnesty for your retro candy binge...)

I hope everyone took note of their weight on 1/1/2010 for this competition! I was nowhere near a scale on January 1 - so I'll just guess based on my weight on 12/30 plus 1 day of vacation eating. Puts me behind before I even get started.

I've been afraid to get on the scale yet - but will force myself to for this Thursday's throwdown. I've got to stock up on fresh veggies, whole grains, get back to my exercise routine and my weight loss class and all that good healthy living that had become pretty routine for me just 2 weeks ago! How easily bad habits can return. I vow to start tomorrow (or at least this week... ;)) I am too tired to go grocery shopping this evening. Yesterday was a very long day of travel starting at 5am (CST) time and ending at my front doorstep at midnight. My first day back at work has been hellatious. :(:(
Let's get to it throwdowners! No more excuses (or moon pies)!!!!!!

Mary I think we were cross posting! It just sounds to me like your scales had a temporary malfunction. Stay motivated and try again in a couple of days and I just know things will be looking up .... errr down I mean!

I'm really out of sync with this thread since the weigh-ins at my weight watchers meetings are on Tuesday. But I have a one lb. loss so that is good.

Weight at beginning of St. Patty's day challenge 185
Weight today 183.9

Total: -1.1 lbs

Superbob, if you get a chance, PM some more info on your spinal stenosis. As you know, it is a real topic of interest in our household these days. Let me know too if you have ever been on steroids for it and what your reaction was. Thanks so much, Betty

Betty, I run behind the Throwdown, so running ahead is okay too. Congrats on the 1.1 pound loss. Great job!

Thanks!

Wise....you are doing good but Cindy captured the prize this week.
Duffey, don't get down, you are doing really well! I don't do any running anywhere anymore. It is one thing I don't miss.

I hope everyone has a loss this week regardless of the side of pond you live on!
