Can hardly believe nobody has started this thread yet ... so, here goes:

CONGRATULATIONS INDIANPOLIS COLTS!

It's a disappointing loss for the Chicago Bears, certainly, but it's also disappointing to see the "finger pointing" at Rex Grossman. He wasn't the only one on the field....

*shakes head*

While I'm disappointed that the Bears lost, I am happy for my many friends who are staunch Colts supporters.

Hmm...baseball season isn't that far away.... Until then, Chicago has the Bulls and Blackhawks to watch, though the Blackhawks aren't doing very well. Oh, and let's not forget Mike Ditka's Chicago Rush indoor football team :)!

After the FIRST FIFTEEN SECONDS, I wasn't so sure!!!!!!!   :p :D

May God Bless,

Danny

I have to agree with Danny, I was worried for a little bit. Happily things turned out the way I wanted.

And by the way, dear Danny, shouldn't your "pieces missing" motto be located beside a brain avatar?:p :p :D

Congratulations Colts....and Sherry!!

Actually, at age 47 this is the first Super Bowl I have ever watched (I saw games on the screen in passing, but didn't watch). Even better than that, this is the first football game of any type I have ever watched, in its entirety.
Now back to basketball.

I'm surprised that in Kentucky there is such a large contingency of Colts fans; so many of my fellow Kentuckians love to hate Indiana:( , my home state. Then again, they hate Tennessee too.

For future reference, go Chicago baseball!!

Guess we were too busy partying Cort:p Nonetheless.....congrats to the Colts. Have a warm spot in my heart for them regardless of the outcome. Probably has some to do with my good GF Sherry in IN:D And.... the fact that I visited Colts turf last weekend.:) Hey....still won some $ in the pool. Not so bad;)

Hooray for the Colts, and hooray for Peyton Manning, the ol' Tennessee Volunteer.

Now on to the baseball season (pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training in just two weeks, despite the minus-10 wind chills here this morning), and on to a repeat World Series championship for the St. Louis Cardinals!

I second that motion!

Hooray for my own personal favorite Volunteer (next to my son)! Peyton did the job! Way to go Colts!

PS.....RobHol....my hair is dark! I put in an order for UT Orange, but someone wasn't listening! ;)

Time for the Cardinals!

Deb

Even though I like Payton Manning, I'm so sad at the Chicago loss. I wouldn't be a true Bears fan if I wasn't. So you'll pardon me if I take a few minutes to sob uncontrollably.

I too was cheering for "Da Bears." However, I am also happy for Tony Dungy. Now it is time to deal with football withdrawal :( .

*chuckles*

If that should happen, The ONLY consolation prize would be the fact that John Rooney would get his 3rd straight World Series win. 1 with the Chicago White Sox, and (if a repeat Championship) 2 with the St Louis Cardinals.

*pauses*

*peers around the room, eyeing Cardinals and White Sox fans in particular*

I better not have seen ANY of you Cardinals/White Sox fans looking puzzled at the name John Rooney. If that name means nothing to you and/or you were puzzled by it, then I question your team loyalty. If his voice, at least, means something to you, then you may still be able to claim your fandom ;).

For those that don't know ... John Rooney was the voice of the Chicago White Sox on a couple different radio stations for many years. First, when the White Sox were on WMAQ 670 AM ... then, when they moved to EPSN Radio 1000 AM. His last year with the White Sox was their World Series win in 2005. His first year with the Cardinals ... resulted in their WS win last year (2006).

"Back in the day", when the Cubs still played only day games, I remember driving home from Dad's team's softball games in Dad and Mom's 1976 Monte Carlo on Friday nights ... and listening to John Rooney call the White Sox games on WMAQ. At first, I remember hating that ... because, in those days, WMAQ played country music. And, those pesky Sox preempted "my music". But, then, as the years went by, Rooney's voice was one of those "all is right with the world" voices .... you know the type. The type that you hear and you KNOW everything is just fine. Why me, a Cubs fan, felt that about Rooney ... I'll never know. BUT ... it was ssssooo COOL to hear his voice last October when I was in "Cardinal country" during my road trip.

*pauses*

OK ... that went WAY off course ... but, it's my thread, and I'll derail it if I want to ;). He he he

Thanks for starting this thread, Cort. I should have started it myself, being the Hoosier that I am, but I got tied up with other things and forgot to post.

I tell you, the whole team, and especially Tony Dungy, really make us proud. He is an absolute class act and a super role model to all the young kids he works with in Indy. It's funny, we Hoosiers were always known for the temperamental coach (Bob Knight), and now we're known for the gentleman coach, Tony Dungy.

Thanks for the nods, Wise and Gina. You're right, gf, the groundswell of excitement was already brewing last weekend. Glad we got to partake in some of that. ;) ;)

You are quite welcome, Sherry :). Just trying to be a good sport, despite my huge disappointment ;).

As I wrote ... I AM happy for you! And, you are quite correct ... Bobby and Tony are very different types of coaches ... each compelling and interesting and likeable in their own right ;).

I'm actually happy that the Colts won. It's nice to see some other teams get it besides the Broncos, Steelers, etc. It was there time.
