I have read the total cholesterol/HDL ratio should be 4.5 or lower. My total cholesterol is 209, HDL 98, LDL 94, and Trigly. 83. The doctor listed the ratio as 2.1. Is this supposed to be good? It is less than half of 4.5. I have been told that my Cholesterol is high because my HDL is unusually high. The word unusually always makes me wonder. I take Pravachol 40mg for 4 years because two of my doctors believe it will prevent me from having blood clots. I have MVP with moderately severe regurg and a possible PFO. My Cholesterol has not changed since taking the Peavachol. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who is knowedgeable about Cholesterol
